My children 9,3 aren't really into the Villians and Halloween. I've heard so many good things about MNSSHP. Waht are your opinions on whether I should attend or not. Thanks in advance.

I would not miss it for the world! It is not at all about the villains, there is a lot of just having fun, trick or treating, and if you're not into all that, just ride the rides..no big crowds. It was so much fun, I've vowed never to miss another one...ever :teeth:

IF you are not that into the villians, skip the parade, but I would still highly recommend the party. First of all, it is a great time to ride the rides. We go on Halloween night every year and have never waited more than 15 minutes to ride anything, with most waits around 5 minutes or less. We get so much done!!! We can literally do all of MK that night. Actually, after doing the MK during the party, it is hard to go there during the day and fight the crowds.

Also, the trick or treating is absolutely wonderful. Most CM's hand out the candy by the handful. We figure we get at least a couple tickets worth of candy every year. The kids love it!! There is so much more....free face painting (although the lines for this can get VERY long), free family photos, etc.

We aren't really into villians, etc. either, and we did just what noahynav said. We skipped the parade, and we just had a blast with the dressing up, and the trick-or-treating, and just being there at night. It was a lot of fun!

We go to MNSSHP every time we are at Disney. Here in the UK it is not such a bog thing as in the US but we love it. Everyone is in costume (not necessarily villians or scary things), you get to ride more easily thna in the day time, there is a special firework display, trick or treating stands throughout the park, free fmaily photo etc etc etc - not to be missed

Our last trip we arrived the day before Halloween. We totally avoided MK that day and went to MGM and then Epcot. MGM was empty, it was a great strategy in my book. We are totally not into Halloween and while I understand the decorations and great and it's lots of fun, we were glad to avoid the crowds and go elsewhere. The night before we went to Downtown Disney and my 4-year-old nephew dressed up and trick or treated at all the stores. My two kids 11 and 14 were not dressed up, but they trick or treated too. They had alot of fun and got just the right amount of candy, and a good dose of Disney Halloween "magic". For us, it was a fine alternative. The deciding factor for us was trying to avoid the crowds.

After 30 some visits since 1977, this past trip we were there for the occasion. Not on Oct 31, about a week before, and attended in costume. We're in our 50's, and we really enjoyed the park, characters, candy, people and the rides. Its something not to miss and do take a costume, a light one, it is hot on them nights. We had a ball and laughed most of the night at the others in costume. The subdued lighting, villians and CM's we great. Go, forget your age and pretend you're a kid again, trick or treating.

Are your children scared of the villains and Halloween? Or are they just not into dressing up and Halloween in general?
As long as they are not scared, and the tickets/time fit in your budget, then I would say try it.
DH and I went last year. We are not Halloween people, we did not dress up. It was fun, but we probably won't go back any time soon. There were lots of candy stations and we got some candy. But not as much as we could have. 2 people don't need a ton of candy! The lines were short and the parade/fire works were neat. We enjoyed it, but it's not a "must do" for us.

Have fun,
Ginger

We aren't into Halloween either, but we went to MNSSHP mainly for the character autographs. If you like doing the autographs, there are usually "rare" characters out at the party - quite a few are villains, but there are many that aren't. Last year included the dwarfs, Tarzan & Jane, Abu, the Princesses & their Prince, to name a few.

We are planning to go this year as my DD loves trick or treating and it is going 3 times during our stay so might as well go. I have never got Tarzan, Jane or Abu's autograph so if there are hard to find characters I am there. I'm worse then the kids. haha

The way the park was decorated was certainly an awesome sight. But I swear they lied about selling a limited amount of tickets only. I have never in my life seen the MK so crowded. You could barely walk or do anything. It took all the pleasure out of it for us. Especially having paid all that money for 11 people to attend. I would never do it again. The kids dressed up, but weren't able to get treats from anywhere without standing in line for a half hour. They liked the decor too, but also commented that it was more fun and less busy during the regular day. (13,11,9,7, and 3)

Last year there was a Villain meet & greet - Maleficent, Queen of Hearts, Frollo, Jafar, Big Bad Wolf, Evil Queen. Mr. Walrus, and the 4 Little Einsteins were new for us too.

It was a great night for characters! :)

Like everyone else said it is great fun. No lines on the rides, trick or treating, rare characters, it is so much fun. We didn't notice it being too crowded like someone said, only in front of the castle did we find it crowded in the least.

We went the Friday before Halloween last year (10-28) so much fun.

My husband enjoyed it so much that we are atking the kids this year:)

Thanks everybody....we'll be going the first week of Oct. so hopefully it won't be too crowded. The rare characters sold me. I think it's me who wants to see the characters not my children. Oh, well now I won't have a nagging feeling about whether or not to go.

We went on the first night Sept. 30 last year and found it to be totally opposite of skooniebird's report. Other than the line for the candy which some were long. We instead did rides and ALL of the rides especially in Fantasyland were walk on. We did more in that night than any full day and didn't have the sun beating down on us. It was wonderful! I did find it was best to wait until late in the evening to get candy. The lines were empty then. Loved MNSSHP! Going agian this year.

That's what I was going to say. It's a great time for autographs, and Hallowishes is spectacular!

I suprised DD17 with a quick trip down for her birthday. We celebrated her 17th birthday at MNSSHP on 10/6...we got to be in the group of Grand Marshalls chosen for the parade that night! It was fantastic. Here's a couple of our pics from that evening...
