Not having maid service at Disney Animal Kingdom Lodge

Hi, I have a question regarding reducing the maid service whilst staying at the Disney resorts.

I'm guessing, when you check in they will ask if you would like maid service? If I reduce it for example 3 maid visits in my 14 day stay, will I get the days I don't have it on a Disney Gift Card $10 a day?

That's how I understood it anyway, thanks a lot for your help!!!

The $10 per night option to forgo maid service is only available at value and moderate resorts not deluxe. And you can’t pick and choose your days if you want the gift card. It’s all or nothing..

Oh, so it's compulsary to have the maid service at the deluxe resort? I would of thought it would be at any Disney hotel

Well, it’s not compulsory. You can always refuse maid service at a deluxe or pick and choose the days you want it, but you won’t get a gift card.

You can opt out but there’s no gift card at the deluxe for doing so. Even if you do decide to opt out, there is a mandatory daily room check.

You might soon get your wish. It was just announced yesterday that The Polynesian would start the service your way program beginning Feb.24th. I imagine the rest of the deluxe resorts will eventually follow suit.

This is gonna be funny. After the gift card it will be a $500+ room with no maid service. That’s hilarious.

On our recent stay at Animal Kingdom Lodge, we did not opt out (was not offered the option) but they skipped us anyway during our 3 day stay! We had to call down for fresh towels at 10pm. Pretty disappointing service!

We had something similar happen! We stayed at SSR and when we checked in and got to the room, they didn't turn it over from the previous guests. And then I called "the front desk" which I know if guest services and got "well yeah you're staying on points you don't get maid service every day" um hello we just checked in, this is not our mess! Needless to say I marched over to the actual front desk and they got an ear full from me.

We paid cash. They seemed to just skip over that room. The maid's cart was parked outside our door when we headed to the parks so we were surprised to have to call down for towels at 10pm. Very disappointing for what we paid.
