NOT HAPPY!!!! The perfect dining itineary ruined!

DW made ressies for our May trip and had no issues EXCEPT.....T-Rex NO AVAILABILITY during the hours people normally eat at. Think they had a table at 4am....and Teppan Edo only had 4pm available. We were hoping to time this better with the nightly world showcase festivities.

I can't break this news to DS 5 and DD 8 since they are HUGE build a bear fans and recently found out they have build a dino at T-REX.

I'm sure this place like Rainforest has average food at premium prices so I'm not heart broken but at the end of the day...it's all about the kids...right?


Anyone gotten into T-Rex without a ressie?

Did you call T-Rex directly? They only give a very limited # of tables for booking in the Disney dining system. By all reports, it works better if you just call the restaurant directly and reserve.

Some have been successful walking up but be prepared for a very long wait, depending on the date and time.

I would call T-Rex directly - very tables are opened up for Disney Dining.

I think they can still do the build-a-dino thing without eating there, can't they? You could eat at Rainforest and then build-a-dino.

As others have said, call the restaurant directly. You will have a much better chance at landing the ADR time you want.

I know it isn't the same, but if you can't get an ADR and don't feel like having a long wait, I am pretty sure you can still Build-A-Dino (although, I'm sure it wouldn't mean as much without eating there).

As for the second statement, as someone who does not travel with kids, no. Disney is not all about the kids. Adults need to have their own fun, too.

when I was thinking of doing T-rex with the family NO matter what day I put in there were NO ressies.. As PP have said, you need to call the restaurant directly.. I would venture to say that they do have availability based on the fact that I feel like there are still SO many ressies available in May for WDW restaurants..

Most guests who call the restaurant directly seem to have no problems getting the exact date and time they want. If you try through the Disney reservation system, you should be aware that T-Rex is not a Disney restaurant and they release only a small percentage of their tables for booking through Disney.

This won't work for Teppan Edo though. They book exclusively through Disney.

Yeah, def call them directly. I've tried Disney ressies for T Rex before and had nothing avail. Then called the restaurant and they have said the whole day is free to book.

I don't know when you're going but we went there in January during the week around 5pm and the place was empty. We got in no problem. By the time we left around 7pm the place was jumping.
So if you can't score an ADR now maybe just go to DTD earlier in the evening to put your name down.

Yes I can tell you that when I checked on a ADR online thru disney it said none available, so I called directly and got it for Sept..

They allot WDW a certain number of tables, that way they have walk in room as well

I would be shocked if they wouldn't let you build a dino even if you don't eat there. I have never been there, but I am guessing it is like any restaurant that sells merchandise-"Come on In and get it."

This may even be better than having to eat there.

I would suggest calling them directly, maybe you might be able to get a ADR.

we did a walk up last trip. The wait was 1 hr but between the dino sand area and things close by(lego) we were content waiting and entertaining the kids until we were called. One of us stayed close by.

We walked up with no reservations just make sure you get there when they open if you can't get one ahead of time. Also keep checking, they could always have a cancellation.

We've eating at T-Rex about 5-6 times and we have never ever had a Ressie before. In fact I didn't even know you could make them until I started coming here.

The longest we've had to wait was maybe 15 minutes, right in the middle of dinner service at 7m. We just went over to the legos and played.

Definitely call the restaurant directly. I called for a reservation for a few weeks from now, which is a much busier time because of spring break. I had no problems at all. They pretty much asked me what time I wanted and I got it.

Since Teppan Edo sounds like another must have for you, you'll have to keep checking on line multiple times a day to see if something opens up. People change plans all the time so times do come available. You can also check the the May cancellation thread on the Reservations board here on the Dis.

Unlike T-Rex there's no way to call this restaurant because it only takes reservations through the Disney online/phone sysytem.

Worse case is you join the Safari Club and get front of the line seating. In addition to discounts.
I think the Safari Club is the only way to go anyway for RFC/TRex.
However as others have said, I am sure there was availability by calling TRex directly.
