Not going to rejoin D23

I gave it two years. I thought maybe I could go to the Christmas event, but with my job, that is impossible to get tickets to. Then I looked at a couple other things, and the prices are just not doable for me. When you add up hotel, ticket to the parks and plane fare, participating in D23 in not affordable for me. I am sorta sad, but with the economy the way it is, this is the easiest to give up. Is anyone else giving up on D23?:sad2:

I did not renew my D23 membership this year. Not a one of the events was at a time or place I could attend. It's a really expensive magazine subscription...

Sayhello

DH and I were able to go to the Cars 2 Toy Fair in NYC. We also enjoy getting the D23 magazines. I think it would be more worth it if we were closer to some of the events.

I was a charter member but haven't renewed. I felt the annual price was a bit too steep for a slick, oversized quarterly magazine and events that were not convenient or affordable for me to attend

I was a Charter member who renewed early in January. Order still hasn't shipped and no one can give me answers. I'm done. On top of the fact I live on the East Coast and nothing seems to happen here or when it does the tickets are too hard to get.

This is interesting to me as I have been wondering if D3 could possibly be a good idea for the majority of people. I used to love being part of the Disney Club because you got a great magazine every 2 months and could benefit from some good room/ other discounts. This was a much less elite club and helped fans no matter where they lived. D3 seems very California based. It is great if you live in L.A.

I also was a charter member. I didn't renew because the extra 30 dollars to ship to Canada was just too steep for me. We had problems with my membership at the beginning and I didn't get the stuff I was supposed to for months. Disney re sent but it took forever. All the events and discounts are in LA. Nothing on the east coast that I could get too. Or if they did it sold out super quick. I did get a email from them with a survey to find out why I didn't renew and a special offer to renew. I am going to LA in aug. But is it worth it for ms to renew for just that week is what I'm trying to figure out now

I would join but to ship to the UK is nearly another $70 which is just too expensive

Thought about joining D23, but never did. Nothing was ever close enough or at a time that I could join in. Loved Disney Club and the perks, though. Wish that would come back!!

I resisted until now because all the good stuff seemed to be in Cali. I saw the Destination D event for May & joined to get tickets for it. It is steep for the tickets.........but I figure I will never get to see all those Disney legends any other way. I especially am excited to see Richard Sherman! Hoping I do not regret it.

I went to the DL version (and will be going to the WDW version). The Imagineer panel and the Sherman concert was worth the cost of admission alone.

I agree with Tom. Destination D at Disneyland had some highs and lows, but overall it was a fantastic event! It was worth the price of admission and then some!

Well, you guys helped me make up my mind. Thanks! I was toying with the idea of joining mainly because there are some cool D23 stuff I see on disneystore.com. I'll keep my money.

We are charter members of D23 and enjoy our membership. Three weeks ago we went to a Disney Studios and Animation tour in Burbank, which was wonderful - even got to meet and listen to Dave Smith! :goodvibes We will be going to the Expo in August. I know we live on the west coast and most of the events are in CA, but they hold a few events at WDW.

I thought about joining but decided against it. I was worried it would be Disneyland centered. It looks like most of the events are in California rarely do they offer something in Walt Disney World that looks interesting.

So unless I move to California, I'm not getting it.

I actually just joined because I want to see for myself what exactly was involved. I have heard from many people who were members and thought the cost was too high and not worth the very few perks available, especially to us on the East Coast.

I will be a member for this year, see what I really think about D23 and make a decision after that as to whether I will renew next year or not.

I am hopeful that Disney is seeing what is being said about the club and makes some changes for the better to keep people in the group. I think if changes aren't made, the club will not make it.

Oh come on, just think outside the box, if you sell your blood several time a year Disney can get its money and you can get a subscription to a magazine and the ability to buy more exclusive items. If you find something you like (i.e. a rare collectable) then just remember God gave you two kidneys but you can live with just one and the price a good kidney on the black market can keep you in collectables for weeks.
:thumbsup2
