Not exactly WDW related, but a one way rental car question...

Hi everyone ! Next Fall, we are headed to Yellowstone for a trip with some of our wonderful DIS friends that we have cruised with several times. Our hope is to fly from Indiana to Jackson Hole, WY the day before our Old Faithful Inn reservation, renting a car at/near the airport. We plan to have the car during our Yellowstone stay and then take 3 or 4 days driving back home, stopping to see some sights along the way. When I checked for rates for a similar time this Fall, I was finding ~ $400 for a mid-sized SUV for 10 days (one way) from Enterprise. When I check our actual dates for next Fall, I am getting a rate of almost $1,500 for 10 days . Does anyone have experience with one way rentals as far as what company would be the best/cheapest to rent from? Also, do you think as our date gets closer that the rate would drop to be more in line with my previous amount of $400? Thanks for any advice you can offer .

I don't know if you have a Costco membership, but I have a one way with Alamo through them (in Florida) and the rate was much cheaper than other companies.

You can book, cancel and rebook when you find a cheaper rate. The rental car rates go up and down all the times, so it is best to check often, cancel and rebook at the new rate.

One way rates can vary wildly. It all depends on what the company needs (and doesn't need) at a location. So I found an AMAZING deal a few years ago picking up in Phoenix and dropping in Anaheim. They obviously needed that Camry there.

Rentals are also often sky high a year, 6 months out...then they quite often start to drop. If you had been tracking this Fall from last Fall, you might have seen the same rates then as you're seeing now. (maybe)

Once you find a rate you can live with, book it, but in a non-pre-paid and cancellable way. Then keep checking back.
