Not everyone who plays Animal Crossing is addicted

I know it's probably because I'm not "with it" but I totally don't understand this game! I got for my niece for Christmas and watched her play it for a couple hours the other day and I just don't get the appeal. Maybe if they made a Disney version it would make more sense to me. :teeth:

I had a thought, did you do any turnip trading?
Nancy's DH had a theory that they were a cover-up for some illegal goings on - maybe once you buy turnips you are hooked to the game :confused3

Totally agree!
Much like you I haven't touched it for ages.
To be fair tho I played the DS version constantly when I got it and it's pretty much identical.
Also the wii plays a massively second fiddle to the ps3 in my house!

:goodvibes

My wii isn't even online, so Im not sure on that one

Same, but even though I have a PS3 as well, the 360 is still the most played. Also, I only just got DS Animal Crossing, so haven't played it yet

I haven't played since the end of January, either - logged on specifically for my birthday. I'd like to, since I like the game (and would love to visit someone else's town, finally, someday, maybe, finally...), but I just haven't had the time. :headache:

I got into it pretty hard and heavy and enjoyed it. I can't bring myself to pick it up again because it almost seems like work since I left it alone so long. I'm not looking forward to picking all that fruit and cleaning up my town.

I have it on DS, and it hasn't been played for a couple of months....

oh well!

I actually traded mine back in to Gamestop. :rolleyes1

I love Animal Crossing - I've played all of them, and they are VERY addicting, but after awhile the game starts to feel like work to me. I feel obligated to play every day and do the same chores again and again - once I had my house fully upgraded I stopped playing and felt like if I ever felt like playing again I could just play the DS version.

I haven't had time to play it. I really miss visiting Nancy and Lois, but I just don't have time.

It truly does suck up your time! Since we got to perfect town status, and got our lighthouse and fountain, we're not quite as manic as we were, but we do still play every day! Today Nintendo released the new Nintendo DSi, and - oh surprise! - we got a special gift in the mail from Nintendo - a DSi bench!!!

We miss you too! I have only been jumping on here and there. The pink spring trees are nice. Since Ian got his "hack" on, he's been having more fun than ever - changing up the shape of the town, moving animal houses, watering flowers in bulk, etc. He even made a PDF on how to hack it....

Me - day job is sucking up most of my energy. Oh yeah - and I have 4-5 segments in the can I need to edit and send off.....

That's exactly how I felt about Fashion Wars. It felt like work...do this, do that, click here, click there....I never bought Animal Crossing because I was afraid that would happen.

BUT....when TSM comes out on Wii, I'm SOOOO there! Skill games are a lot more fun than role-playing, IMO.

How did he figure out how to move stuff around? Fun.

He found out about the loophole of the hacking program. You can replan your entire town without anyone moving or losing flowers or starting over from scratch!

The temptation is that you can also give yourself items - you don't need money at that point. I have to admit - I've been tempted, but may only cave to get my flowers where I want them to be.... Putting in some new hybrids could be fun.....

I LOVED Pete's time traveling tips. But, I just couldn't it out on my own. It would be really fun to get stuff without having to pay for it and change the town around, but only if it were easy.
