Not able to change resort hotel a week out from trip?

Have a trip planned a little over a week away and was looking into changing Disney hotels from CSR to CR. New bookings are available but customer service rep says changing resort is showing no availability and that we would have to cancel and rebook. Anyone run into this? Know of reasons why? TIA

I've never heard of that. Can you try modifying your reservation online?

Tried to modify online and it showed availability to change to GF or campsites only, CR was unavailable. When looking at my dates with a mock reservation, CR has availability. Just strange and wondering why Disney doesn’t want my money

Do you have a special rate currently? It might not be available for the other resort. You might have to pay full rack rate.

Unless you don’t want to for some reason (deposit, payments made, etc), I’d be tempted to just cancel the old room and rebook what you want.

We plan on trying again tomorrow to change and see if it works. I am worried about cancelling because our tickets are linked with this reservation and it being so close to the trip, I am afraid of screwing everything up. Hoping the person we spoke with on the phone today is wrong and we can still get it done. Thanks for helping!

Can you book the new reservation before you cancel the existing one? That is what I would do, even if you have to put the main renter as the other adult in your group.

If you are seeing a new reservation but the regular phone CM could not assist you with a modification / transfer please call one of these numbers.

My first choice it to call the Guest Services (GS) call back number and explain your issue with the previous CM. GS is able to make any possible change if there is actually space available. This means they can override the booking engine rules.

Thanks for everyone’s help, was able to switch today. Yay! There was an update to the reservation change system (this is what I am told) which is why we couldn’t change yesterday.
