Not a great day for rope drop

I would be extremely frustrated if I, an out of state non AP holder, was doing a trip to Disneyland and this was what rope drop was like.

That’s a total bummer… it really matters if the rides are up and running. We were there Saturday, 1/21 and had the best day… started at DCA and everything was up and running at rope drop. We did so genie plus and just went from ride to ride with almost immediate return times. We had ridden everything we wanted plus Guardians twice by 1pm. Disneyland was also having a decent day, and LL were readily available there as well, even after 1pm. When the rides break down, it becomes a total mess!

I mean it's really not THAT many. Out of ~28 rides in just Disneyland park alone, only 6 were not up and running by rope drop?

6 is a lot. Haunted Mansion and Indiana Jones are also closed for refurbishment.

That's about 25% of available rides.
They all came back up, though unless the rain prevented them from doing so today (which is a major safety issue). If they were ALL on extended refurbishment then yes. But only having them down temporarily is not really a big deal in the scheme of things or something I would even notice at rope drop. Still PLENTY to do in the park in the morning.

Okay.

I think it's not just that it's 6 rides out of 28, it's that 3 of them are prime attractions and generally you go at rope drop for the ability to ride them without long lines and be able to re-ride as well. That's how I would look at it if I made sure to go at rope drop.

At the time you get there, you have no way of knowing if/how soon they'll come back up.

Have you been in the park when that many rides have been down at once? Those rides all consume large amounts of people, especially Space and Rise. 6 rides down plus 2 down for refurbishment increases wait times significantly and makes the walkways much more crowded. You would notice.

Meanwhile over at MK in WDW, lowest wait times seen in an age….
