Hello!
Can anyone confirm what time the second seating for the 7 day Norwegian Fjords cruise this June will be? I understand that it can be anywhere from 8:00 - 8:30 and have heard different times, so I'm trying to get a consensus here :-) AND for anyone who did this 7 day cruise last year OR in 2015 AND had the second seating, how did you like it? I know everyone has different styles, yet I'm curious about the positives and possible negatives of the second seating. My gut is to have second seating as we would like to fully enjoy our time in each port and I think we are in Alesund until 8pm! I also know that we will enter Geirangerfjord around 5:30 am and this will probably be our "quickest" turnaround from night to morning in regards to sleep. Thanks all! Cheers!

Late dinner last year on the Norwegian cruises was 8:30.

We will be on this cruise as well, and have second dining. We have always done the second seating on cruises, and it is our favorite! It's nice not having to rush back from ports to get ready for dinner, and we just feel more relaxed. It has been 8:15pm on the Caribbean itineraries we have been on.

We'll find out in a little more than a month. See you on board!

We have always had second seating and loved it! Completely agree about the not rushing back from each port! Thanks for that reminder!

I wonder why it's later on the European itineraries. I checked some past Navigators for various European cruises and they are all 8:30 (as opposed to the usual 8:15).

Just an adjustment to many of the later port times, I believe. Yeah, it's only 15 minutes, but that helps when you have a lot of full day excursions arriving back late.

And, in my experience, dinner times are later in Europe generally.

Well, I thought of that too (the former, not the latter) but then, why do they not make a similar adjustment in Alaska which has some late port times as well.

I think they mainly do it to try to accommodate late dining times in Europe.

Norway, has 18 hours of sunlight in June, right? I think sunset is at 10:30 PM or so.

My guess is that it's time zone related 8pm Alaska is midnight eastern, they probably don't want to put it off any further then they must.
