we are going in october and plan to do two character meals. we are doing crystal palace for dinner one night, and will do a breakfast on our day of departure (not leaving until the afternoon). we've made adr's for cape may, but now I'm second guessing and wondering if I should try for the princess breakfast in norway. we are staying at the y/c, if that makes a difference.

We have ds's (4 & 2) and a dd (2). I feel like I'm almost cheating her out of the princesses, although she's not really that into them yet. I'm wondering if she would be just as happy with minnie/goofy/chip/dale.

has anybody done both? is one better than the other?

Unless your dd is really into princesses (which you said she is not......yet ;)) I'd stick with Cape May Cafe. The Norway princess breakfast is average at best (the cinnamon buns are very good, but other than that it's fresh fruit, scrambled eggs, potatoes, sausage, bacon.....nothing real exciting and nothing outstanding), but the real attraction is the princesses.

If you aren't specifically looking for princesses then Cape May Cafe has a lot to offer. The breakfast buffet is very good, with all your standard fare, great fresh fruit, eggs, meats, waffles, cereals, and a variety of other things like grits, oatmeal, blintzes and other stuff. So much for that. What I love is the Krispy Kreme donuts (mmmm......the Kreme filled ones, so fresh) and the other pastries (can anyone say chocolate croissant) and the yogurt and berry bar. So, the food is much better at Cape May Cafe. Add to that location (since you are at YC). Plus, the character interaction is much better at Cape May Cafe. At Norway the princesses make their way around once during your seating. Quick picture and some small banter, and you are done. At Cape May Cafe Goofy and Chip and Dale keep making the rounds and they always seem to do something silly and fun. Our kids always have remembered the interaction from this place more than all the others. Minnie will also make rounds and/or hang at the front of the dining room, and she loves the little kids.

All in all, if you don't have to have the princesses, Cape May Cafe is the better choice.

Out of those two, I would pick Cape May.

We have ate at both places and if you don't have to go see the Princesses then I would go to Cape May because the food there is SO much better. :thumbsup2

I echo the previous posters. The only reason to do the princess breakfast is for the princesses and not for the food. The food at Cape May on the other hand is quite good, so that seeeing the characters is just an extra added bonus.

I would also add that at the princess breakfast, it will be much more crowded and you will invariably have to wait some time before being seated (even if you are on time for your ADR). There is rarely such a wait at Cape May, so you can walk right in, sit down and immediately enjoy your breakfast.

Finally, since you will be at YC, it's nice to have that very short walk over to Cape May for breakfast (not that the walk to Epcot and the princess breakfast is all that long, but it is certainly longer).

thanks all! we'll stick with cape may...sounds yummy. mmmm....

cape may. in norway, the princesses fly by faster than the maelstrom. almost no interaction.

You know, I thought it was just my observation. We had waited for quite a while to be seated, so we would have liked to settle in a bit. We had not even had coffee served, and my DGD was not even acclimated, when they started streaming by. I know that older children may not need a chance to get used to an atmosphere, but our Princess does. She was overwhelmed, and we had to let it go. It was a shame really, because she had had such a nice time shopping for her jasmine outfit, and getting ready to visit her Fav's.

We are not going back either. We had had such an awesome lunch at CRT a few days earlier, making the comparison even more apparent.
