"Norway? More like No Way!" Goobers' Jan 12 TR! Up.x2 4/6: FINAL THOUGHTS!

WHew ... ok ... after many days of being pinned down by some horrible chest/head/sinus nastiness I'm back to seeing straight and catching up on the boards. I spent the last 2 days reading through and catching up!! Continuously fun, awesome, excellent TR ... I can't wait to try some of the Cupcakes you've recommended ... and now I'm secretly plotting some way to make sure either me (or one of my kids) gets to be "The Rebel Spy"!!

BTW ... how did you like the outcome of this season's Top Chef?

Another update:banana:
Never met a tour group in a ride line but they can be quite something when waiting for a parade or Fantasmic.
A rebel spy! I knew you were one of the good guys:rotfl:

YES INDEEDIE! They are terrible to run into in line. I'll never do single rider again when there's a tour group in line. :headache:

And yes, I really am a good guy! That Darth Vader wanted me but he didn't get me. :thumbsup2

THAT PICTURE are you kidding me??? It's so beautiful! Okay so THAT is where the term 'watercolor' comes from. Goodness...

Yeah, crazy right?! But thank you. :)

Yay the new shirts! I love both of them! UGH tour groups. Why do they have to exist? I mean I'm sure there are amusement parks in South America. In fact I've seen some so... I agree with Matt's face.

YAY! I love our new shirts, too. I wish I was able to wear t-shirts more often, buuuut I don't get to since my work requires business casual type of clothes, wompwomp. I wish the tour groups weren't just so ridiculous. They just clog up everything and don't listen. Matt's face truly does say it all.

OMG I've never seen the Bill Cosby statue? WHAT? I didn't even know that existed! I love that his bust includes a sweater.

YES IT DOES! It's like on the walk over to ST I think? I don't know, but the statues are kind of amazing. Though honestly some of them look nothing like the person, hahaha.

I will have to look for Wall-E next time I'm in line for Star Tours... when we rode it we just walked through so I didn't even have time to notice! SO CUTE!

Yeah I just happened to be stopped and was watching it for a bit and saw Wall-E aaand it made my day.

YES, the CMs DEFINITELY choose who the Rebel Spy is. I know some people think it's random but I promise it isn't. (Oh my gosh, you literally just said the same thing. I ALWAYS do that where I say something before reading everything. I take notes when I read TRs hahah.) But that's so cool that you were it!

Nope, it most definitely isn't random! HAHAHA I laughed out loud at this comment because I do the same thing and totally did it on yours I think. It makes it way easier to keep track of things you want to comment on, so I'm with you on that! :thumbsup2

I never knew about the key under the mat! That's awesome. OH THE DETAILS. :worship:

It's such an awesome little detail. There are so many and this is why I love Disney World. :cloud9:

YIPPEE...LOVE that you were the Rebel Spy! I was posting updates on FB throughout our trip, mentioning that we were riding Star Tours over and over in an attempt to see all of the scenes and her comment was "You HAVE to ride it until YOU are the Rebel Spy"...but after five times neither of us made it. I am very curious as to how they determine that as well. I wouldn't be surprised if they had the ability to choose somebody. ;)

Haha it was so funny and surprising! I definitely did not expect it. I'm not sure how they decide but I KNOW that CM totally picked me, not even a question.

And another thing...I LOVE LOVE your shirt and that's so funny because when we were browsing in all of the shops I managed to take a picture of ONE t-shirt in particular because it was soo cute...and of course YOU are now the owner of that shirt! :goodvibes That Up Castle shirt is just too adorable! I didn't buy it myself...ended up getting two other shirts instead but it was tempting! :)

Oh thank you! I love it, too! I was wishy washy on it at first but later was like, "UMMM DUR OF COURSE I HAVE TO BUY IT!" I'm glad I did since I love Up so much!

I LOVE your TR so far! Some peoples' TRs are just totally not my style of touring and enjoying Disney so they're not as fun to read but you guys have the exact trip I would love to go on! Haha.
FUN

Thank you so much, this is such a huge compliment! I think sometimes you just GET other people's touring style and it makes the TR way more enjoyable. I am definitely happy that you think our trip was a blast... because I swear, it was THE BEST!

French toast sticks remind me of my childhood. Good choice, Matt. Dani, I don't like raisins so you lose this breakfast battle. Sorry. :(

Hahaha, it's okay. I used to hate raisins and still kind of do, but I love cinnamon raisin bagels.

You two seriously have the most impressive tshirt collection ever! Matt's tour group face pretty much sums up how we felt about them too.

Haha thanks! I think we did a pretty good job with the t-shirt collection! His face really does sum it up. It's like, you can't say anything, so instead you just make an angry face. :rotfl:

Your pics with the busts are too funny! So happy to see Betty and Bill!

Haha we are such dorks. I had to take photos with two of my favs!

I never hate a small wait at ST because I love the queue. :) I've never seen the Wall-E, but that's so awesome! Now I remember this day because you were the rebel spy! Yay!

The queue is seriously amazing, I love it! Seeing Wall-E made me really happy. And yes, I totally remember texting you about it! I JUST HAD TO TELL SOMEONE! Then you told me your Mom had been chosen, hahaha.

I love that touch in the Muppets. :) So sad this is your last MGM day. :( I love that park.

It's really awesome and made me happy when I found it. I was sad to say goodbye, too. Like, I didn't want this trip end, and now the TR is almost over.. :sad1:

We are huge LOST fans, too! Our first year in Africa was the final season and so we would buy and download each episode each week from itunes, which would take 20-24 hours each because of how slow/horrible our internet is here. It was well worth it though because we had to know how it ended!!! (We were disappointed with the final episode, but it was still an awesome show!)

Awesome, always love hearing from fellow LOST fans! Personally I loved the way it ended, and I sobbed like a baby, haha. But I was always attached/more interested in the characters than I was in the island, so it worked for me. Regardless, I think overall it really was an amazingly good show... and I miss it!

How cool that you were picked as the rebel spy! We are really looking forward to riding that one! :thumbsup2 My girls have become quite the Star Wars fans over the past couple of years and this year we were even all Star Wars characters for halloween. (Me:Anikan's Mom, Mr.:Obi-Wan Kenobi, Ms.:Padme, Middle:Princess Leia, Little:Ewok & Jr.:Yoda) It was a lot of fun; especially when we had to explain to our tailor (who has no idea what Star Wars is) what we needed him to make in the local language and with our drawings. He did pretty good with a few funny twists like: a tassel on the hood of Obi-Wan's cloak and yoda ears that look more like bunny ears. :rotfl:

Haha it totally made my day! It's SUCH a fun attraction, even the queue is amazing! I love that you and your family all dressed up for Halloween. I love how the tailor added on his own little pizzazz to it, especially the Yoda bunny ears. I would've gotten a kick out of that!

Love your UP t-shirt !! Yay on being the rebel spy !! LOL on Matt's face in reaction to the tour groups. You MUST post a photo of your Dharma pins !!!

Ahh I love it, too, thanks!! The TGs were so frustrating at times, especially this time. I promise before my next update I will post the pins!! :goodvibes

Absolutely! I am so thinking, wow, I would love to go on a trip with them!

Haha aww, this is such a great post. I am totally feeling the love today. :goodvibes

Hello I have not been commenting but I have been reading and I am really sad this TR has to come to an end :sad2::sad2: I've really enjoyed all of it

It's okay, thanks for commenting now!! I am totally sad it'll be coming to an end, too. I don't want the fun to end... But hopefully I'll have another trip planned before this TR ends... Then you know another TR will be coming along eventually! :thumbsup2 But thanks again, I'm really glad you've enjoyed it.

OMG That's so cool about you being the "rebel spy". I cannot wait to see the new Star Tours. I haven't been on in quite some time since my girls were both young the last two times we went and no one wanted to go. But they're both into Star Wars now so we'll be doing that next time.
Ugh, on the tour groups....when dh and I were still dating on a trip to Disney, it was the end of July and there were sooo many of those tour groups, it was crazy!
:confused3

Haha it TOTALLY made my day. I loved it! It's definitely an intense ride, more intense than I thought, but that being said, I loved it way more than I thought I would. Glad to hear you and the girls will be able to ride it this time though! TGs are so bad in January and July. They just drive me nuts because they don't really have consideration for other people and they don't really listen.

I need to see these LOST pins!!!!!!!!

I promise I will post a photo of them before my next update... I need to take a photo of them tonight. ;)

I just read your entire report and loved every minute !! My husband bought me a stuffed DUG and we take him everywhere, I was so excited to see him riding shotgun in youir backpack !!! I have a trip planned for October and after reading your report I CANNOT stand the wait. Thank you for sharing. :thumbsup2

Oh I am so glad you decided to join in and caught up on my TR!! :goodvibes I LOVE that stuffed Dug, he is so darn cute! He was pretty happy to be hanging out of my backpack for the ride. I think he enjoyed the breeze. I am so jealous of your trip; I need to plan one here ASAP so I can have one to look forward to. :)

We also like to talk to the various ducks, once at the Wilderness Lodge I was eating a sandwich, minding my own business, when a duck came up and BIT MY TOE !!! What kind of duck do you suppose that was ???

HAHA OMG, I have to admit, I laughed at your duck story! I just pictured a duck biting your toe and it made me laugh. He'd be considered a Toe-biting duck. Those guys are vicious! :lmao:

WHew ... ok ... after many days of being pinned down by some horrible chest/head/sinus nastiness I'm back to seeing straight and catching up on the boards.

WELCOME BACK! I am glad you are feeling better. I hate those horrible types of colds that just knock you the heck out! They are the absolute worst. Totally glad you are caught up though. :goodvibes The cupcakes were really amazing; I definitely suggest any of the ones we got, but especially the red velvet!

And being the Rebel Spy is such a hoot. Cracks me up every time seeing an unsuspecting person's photo appear. :rotfl:

BTW ... how did you like the outcome of this season's Top Chef?

I LOVED it. I was rooting for Paul the whole time, and I could NOT stand Sarah. She was such a mean person and just drove me nuts. She proved that she really was ridiculous even moreso on the reunion. I just could not stand her and I think the right person won. Paul was strong from start to finish. I think there may have been a riot if Sarah won.

I love how those ducks are trying to look all innocent...like, "Who, me? Did WhAT!?"

I know we've discussed our Betty White photos before, but since I haven't gotten to the HS section of TR yet, you won't know this---the other two statue photos we took there are Bill and Walt!!!:lmao:

Awesome that you were the rebel spy! I always suspected it;). I have never watched Lost, but I do have a son named Sawyer, who I've heard is a character on there. Does that count for something??

I love how those ducks are trying to look all innocent...like, "Who, me? Did WhAT!?"

Haha I know, right? Like, they are totally scandalous and they KNOW it.

I know we've discussed our Betty White photos before, but since I haven't gotten to the HS section of TR yet, you won't know this---the other two statue photos we took there are Bill and Walt!!!:lmao:

OMG, are we twins or what?! That is so funny! We clearly have good taste in celebrities! :rotfl:

Awesome that you were the rebel spy! I always suspected it;). I have never watched Lost, but I do have a son named Sawyer, who I've heard is a character on there. Does that count for something??

Hahaha, it was so funny! It's funny you bring up Sawyer because as soon as I started reading your TR and saw you had a son named Sawyer, I was like HELLO SAWYER IS AN AWESOME NAME! He ends up being quite an interesting character, too! So yes, it TOTALLY counts.. and then some!
.

I am so with Matt on the attractions never built thing... and I love Walt Dated World. Another awesome blog is parkeology.com Trust me, it's awesome sauce!

Well, I've read your entire TR over the past 2 days and I LOVE IT!! Great job!! SO much pixie dust for you guys on this trip too! It's been wonderful to read about.

I love that you and Matt proudly embrace your gooberness :goodvibes I am the same way. And you're so lucky that you found a Disney obsessed man to marry. I often say that I just can't marry someone who doesn't love Disney. That's just the way it is! haha

Can't wait for more!! I'll probably read your last TR too... sounds like it was an amazing Honeymoon.

Right when we saw this last night we both started reading parkeology.com! Love it! Totally a great blog. Thank you for the suggestion! :)

Well, I've read your entire TR over the past 2 days and I LOVE IT!! Great job!! SO much pixie dust for you guys on this trip too! It's been wonderful to read about.

Well first and foremost, HELLO! And thanks for deciding to read my TR. We really had a TON of pixie dust thrown our way and it is all something I will never forget. I'm glad you've enjoyed reading my TR so much! :goodvibes

I love that you and Matt proudly embrace your gooberness :goodvibes I am the same way. And you're so lucky that you found a Disney obsessed man to marry. I often say that I just can't marry someone who doesn't love Disney. That's just the way it is! haha

Haha we totally do! We know we are mega dorks and we just don't care. I am very happy I found someone who loves Disney so much, because HE is the one who got me back into it! It's just another thing that we get to share together and it truly has become our home away from home. :goodvibes I can totally understand though about marrying someone who doesn't love Disney. I would have a hard time with that!

Can't wait for more!! I'll probably read your last TR too... sounds like it was an amazing Honeymoon.

UGH, can you believe this is my first TR and I didn't write one for my honeymoon?! Buuuut to be fair, I didn't discover the DIS until October of 2011, and that would've been WAY too late to try to do a TR about our honeymoon. I couldn't remember everything, it'd be a pretty boring TR. But! I'm hoping we'll plan another trip soon, so then I can look forward to being able to write another TR!

Chapter Thirty-Six: The best bread pudding you will ever eat in your LIFE
Day 9: January 26th, 2012

Apparently it was REALLY hot this day, soooo we needed a break before we went to get lunch. We hung out in the room for awhile, then headed to the bus at around 12:15 to get lunch at Raglan Road.

On our walk towards the bus stop, we looked to see if we saw any ducks in the little pond in front of the Villas. Imagine my surprise when I spotted my favorite... TURTLES!!!

f3fa083d.jpg

These guys had really long necks and there were 3 of them floating around! We were leaning over the little fence, and they apparently spotted us because they swam right over to us.

Yup, they were HOBO TURTLES! Hahaha, they were waiting for us to throw them food! No joke. I did not know there were hobo turtles who begged for food.

We watched them for a bit and finally tore ourselves away so we could make sure we made it to DTD for our reservation..

Once we got to DTD, we decided to check in early for lunch.

265c6a1d.jpg

We were seated very quickly but ended up with ANOTHER bad server. She wasn't as nearly as bad as the guy from Cape May, but she wasn't super duper friendly and... DIDN'T BRING US THE SODA BREAD WITH GUINNESS REDUCTION! :headache:

Yes, I realize we could've asked but we weren't sure if Raglan Road stopped giving it to people on the dining plan, so we didn't bother (though later realized that no, we should've gotten the bread because other people on the DDP did).

But gosh, what a bummer. We love that bread and the dipping sauce!

We looked over the menu for a bit...

And Matt went with the Shepard's Pie..

e895bf1f.jpg

while I went with the Lobster Club, with onion rings...

It was at that very moment that the bad service was forgotten because my goodness, Raglan Road makes the best darn food!

My sandwich had big chunks of lobster, crisped proschiutto, and it was amazingly good, as were the onion rings! Matt's Shepard's Pie was just as amazing.

I can't recommend eating here enough; you won't be disappointed (and honestly our waitress was not the norm; last trip we'd gone twice and both times had excellent service).

For dessert, this was a no-brainer... We both got the AMAZING bread pudding.

Guys and gals, if there's one thing you should eat while in Disney World, it is the bread pudding from Raglan Road. It's OUT OF THIS WORLD. Like, I can't even tell you. Just completely amazing.

GREAT food, with okay service this time, but I will return every trip. This has become a tradition for us and that will absolutely not change. :)

After eating lunch, we did a little shopping and took some photos at the Lego store, of course..

We picked up a car antenna topper for myself, which was the Mickey premium with a bite taken out of it, and decided to get our dog Milo his very own Mickey.

Even though there's no squeaky in it, sometimes Milo just loves stuffed animals in general. Needless to say, it's becoming a good friend of Milo's since we gave it to him..

We picked up a Limited Edition pin for our collection, wwwwwhich I don't have a photo of at the moment, but you'll see it at the end of this trip with the rest of our pins.

After shopping, we caught a bus to Grand Floridian, and of course had no wait on a bus, which seemed to be a theme for this trip.

Reason we caught a bus to GF? Welp you'll have to wait and find out!

Oh my goodness there are hobo turtles too?! So cute.

You're making my to-try list very long with this TR. Raglan Road looks yummy! Sorry you got another lame server. It just looks so good...Must try.

I love your purchases and I know I've already told you, but I got that same Mickey for myself! I can't resist a classic Mickey. That picture of Milo snuggling with him is so precious. :goodvibes

Well, better hobo turtles than scandalous turtles, I've always said...::yes::

I am going to try and convince my family to visit Raglan Road next trip. :shamrock: I mean, since we'll be eating at DTD at some point anyway, it might as well be somewhere that could involve lobster and a big tower of onion rings!! YUM! I'm a big Shepard's Pie fan, though, so I'm not sure what I'd choose. I totally think the Irish and British get a bad rap on their food. Then again, I've never really met a food ethnicity that I didn't enjoy...hmmm. Something to think about.

I fell so far behind again! I had so many comments as I read but can't remember them all!! But here goes...
Slutty Ducks!:lmao:
Red Velvet Cupcake
Bad service at Cape May :headache:
Tour groups :scared:
Hobo Turtles :lovestruc
Raglan Rd...bummer about the service, but the food :cloud9:

Oh, and that pic of Milo and his little Mickey?:lovestruc

That was the one really disappointing thing about our Jan week..the bedbug situation made us miss our Raglan Rd ADR. :sad1: But, I vow to make it there in Oct!:thumbsup2

AWESOME updates...as always.:flower3:

What? A cliffhanger? And where are those Dharma pins ? Can you tell I'm a nag ?

Oh my goodness there are hobo turtles too?! So cute.

YUP! And they were very very cute. :lovestruc

You're making my to-try list very long with this TR. Raglan Road looks yummy! Sorry you got another lame server. It just looks so good...Must try.

Haha my apologies. There's just too much good stuff at Disney! A good reason to go back, haha. But Raglan Road is SO amazing. Can't wait to return there.

I love your purchases and I know I've already told you, but I got that same Mickey for myself! I can't resist a classic Mickey. That picture of Milo snuggling with him is so precious. :goodvibes

Haha we are such good taste! The classic Mickey was so cute. Milo just loves him, it's his new buddy. :goodvibes

Well, better hobo turtles than scandalous turtles, I've always said...::yes::

Haha they really are! I just LOVE turtles. They're my favorite friends. :cloud9:

I am going to try and convince my family to visit Raglan Road next trip. :shamrock: I mean, since we'll be eating at DTD at some point anyway, it might as well be somewhere that could involve lobster and a big tower of onion rings!! Oh you totally should! It's SO good. I've also had their fish 'n chips and they are ALSO to die for. I tried a bite of Matt's Shepard's Pie and it was SO good. They do get a bad rap, unfairly so!

I fell so far behind again! I had so many comments as I read but can't remember them all!! But here goes...

Haha it's okay! It happens to all of us. ;) I quite enjoy the quick comments with emoticons, hahaha. I LOVE RR!!

Oh, and that pic of Milo and his little Mickey?:lovestruc

Haha it was so cute. He's just all snuggled up with his buddy.

That was the one really disappointing thing about our Jan week..the bedbug situation made us miss our Raglan Rd ADR. :sad1: But, I vow to make it there in Oct!:thumbsup2

Yeah yuck on bedbugs. I'm sorry you guys missed RR. But of course you'll make it in October!!

AWESOME updates...as always.:flower3:

Thank you. :)

What? A cliffhanger? And where are those Dharma pins ? Can you tell I'm a nag ?

HAHA oh man, yesterday after I posted I realized I totally lied about the pins, because I didn't post them! So I made sure to take a photo this morning just for you! :rotfl:

Both your meals at Raglan Road look delicious... and now I'm hungry!

They really were. I would KILL for another Lobster Club right now with those onion rings... Ohhhh and that bread pudding! Now I'm hungry and it's only 10:30am here! :rotfl:

Raglan Road is one of the best restaurants n Disney, we never miss it. On our last trip in October I had that same Lobster Club Sandwich three times, it was soooooo good !!! I am drooling over your picture, I want one now !!! Only 199 days till I can have one .... :cool1:

I know I'm a bit late...but I'm all caught up and am joining in!!

I never knew that the busts at the start of the HM queue had a murder mystery story about them! I'll definitely have to check that out in the future!

Isn't the bread pudding at Raglan Road amazing? Of course, I had it when I had already eaten an appetizer and entree, and could barely fit another bite! Poor planning, for sure!

Can't wait to hear more about your trip! :goodvibes

OH there are definitely hobo turtles. They hang out with the ducks and the super ugly fish that beg for food all the time in little lakes. They know what's up!

I've never been to Raglan Road but it looks so pretty. And can I just say, those ONION RINGS? Why do those look so good???? They look tempura fried... ahhhh yum.

Umm so I really have no clue what bread pudding is but it just looks like bread in a mug. Hahha I don't get it.

AWW! Milo loves his mouse friend, it seems! How precious.

You caught a bus to the GF to... get on the monorail????

Oh my goodness, that food looks amazing! I've got to try that place while we're in Orlando. (Especially the bread pudding!) :thumbsup2

Ah isn't it the best?! I can totally understand why you had it 3 times; it's THAT good!! 199 days isn't too bad! JEALOUS!

I know I'm a bit late...but I'm all caught up and am joining in!!

OH WELCOME! Thanks for joining in... It's never too late to catch up and join in on the fun!! :goodvibes

I never knew that the busts at the start of the HM queue had a murder mystery story about them! I'll definitely have to check that out in the future!

Yes, isn't that so cool?! It's really fun to actually figure out who killed who. Makes them way cooler than just your ordinary bust. :thumbsup2

Isn't the bread pudding at Raglan Road amazing? Of course, I had it when I had already eaten an appetizer and entree, and could barely fit another bite! Poor planning, for sure!

Heck to the yes it is! And yeah, it's hard because there's so much food. We only had our entree and we still couldn't finish our bread pudding.

Can't wait to hear more about your trip! :goodvibes

Thanks! I can't wait to post more. :)

OH there are definitely hobo turtles. They hang out with the ducks and the super ugly fish that beg for food all the time in little lakes. They know what's up!

Haha they definitely know what is up and they are so stinkin' cute. I love them. :lovestruc

I've never been to Raglan Road but it looks so pretty. And can I just say, those ONION RINGS? Why do those look so good???? They look tempura fried... ahhhh yum.

I don't know what they fry them in but holy cow they're AMAZING. I highly suggest getting them! And yes, it's a beautiful restaurant that I just love!

Umm so I really have no clue what bread pudding is but it just looks like bread in a mug. Hahha I don't get it.

Haha well, it IS bread but it's like.. OMG I can't explain it, so good. It's sweet and you have two sauces to put on it and yeah, it's just amazing. You might not like it though since you don't enjoy french toast.

AWW! Milo loves his mouse friend, it seems! How precious.

Haha it's his other BFF. (His 1st BFF is his pink lamb, aka Lammie, who he never goes to bed without!)

You caught a bus to the GF to... get on the monorail????

Were you secretly watching our trip from afar?! Hahaha.

Oh my goodness, that food looks amazing! I've got to try that place while we're in Orlando. (Especially the bread pudding!) :thumbsup2

YUP, you sure do! It's so so so good. I will recommend RR to every person who is considering it!
