Will they have hotels in Dover for us? I'm thinking of flying in on Thursday morning and taking the bus to Dover. I did London last year on the ABD. We stayed at the Renaissance. Beautiful hotel by the way! Great location too, walking distance to the British Museum.

Unfortunately London hotels are very expensive, and you might be disappointed at the small size and quality of some of the rooms. I would decide which attractions you most want to see and find somewhere close by - be it a DCL hotel or not. I would not go too cheap!:sad2: Tripadvisor is a good resource for recommended hotels.

They do a superior room here is the description -

**** SUPERIOR ROOM ****
THIS IS A LARGE GUEST ROOM WITH SPACIOUS SEATING AREA AND
QUEEN SIZE SOFA BED WITHIN SEATING AREA. AS THE SUPERIOR ROOM
ACCOMMODATES UP TO 4 PEOPLE IT IS IDEAL FOR FAMILIES.

This is currently showing as £276 ($440 at todays exchange rate) for the same Friday night next June, if the cruise were next year, hope you get what I mean!!

Claire ;)

We're planning on going in on the Monday before the cruise and when I put in the dates for 2009 and 3 people it says there are no rooms that will hold that many people. You have to add tax and hotel fees and it came up to $501 US dollars when I did it. I might use points for some of it if I can't find anything less. I am trying to get a timeshare but then again I don't know what area to try for.

Anywhere near Oxford Street or Covent Garden would be central.

I wonder how much they're charging for the Park Plaza? That's the one I was looking at.
Looks nice but mixed reviews.

That's the 1 thing I remember about the hotels. They are small rooms. We stayed at a Holiday Inn last time but it was quite a walk to the train so with brent I am looking for something more central.

Thanks!

All of DCL's hotels are in London, so if you wanted to stay in Dover you'd be on your own.

The other 2 hotels are Park Plaza County Hall and Renaissance Chancery Court.

The Park Plaza County Hall is right near to the London Eye so right by the Thames :)

There are 2 hotels in County Hall, a Marriott & around the corner in the same building a Premier Inn, a more reasonably priced hotel.

I believe our TA said we would probably be booked in the Park Plaza County Hall. My sister-in-law who made the booking isn't here for me to ask, but I remember it had the names Park Plaza in it, it's an all suite hotel & overlooks the Thames.

I wonder if you get a choice or if they just book it for you on a first come, first serve basis.:confused3

I just called DCL and ask about the price of the Park Plaza County Hall hotel. Since it is the cheaper of the 3 if you book yourself I wanted to know the difference in price. If I book it myself(grant you, it's using 2009 dates) the price including all fees and taxes is $803 for 3 nights, 2 adults and 1 child. If I book through DCL, the same room is - are you SITTING???? - $2697! This may include transportation, they didn't know. I will be booking our own rooms!

As if they aren't getting enough money off you from the cruise!!!:scared1:

 Now that is alot of money for a transfer that is less than 80 miles!

That is crazy. I seriously hope that includes transfers. For one night the benefits might be worth it, but anything more than that, it'd be cheaper to find your own hotel.
