I hope everyone had a good first week of 2009!

Thanks for the photos! Dover looks beautiful!

I can understand the costs and the reasons why, but Im sorry for those of you who have to pull out. Will keep fingers crossed that DCL will do something and you can return to us!

Hope you all have a great weekend!
:hippie:

My husband and I will definitely be on this cruise (not sure about the friend) although we surely wouldn't turn down any discounts offered to us! We did the Trans Atlantic cruise in 2007 but arrived and jumped right on the ship. I'm not familiar with booking before and after cruise stays. I noticed some are already booking or looking for the hotels. How far ahead do you have to reserve rooms? My husband's dream is to start in DLP, cruise, then a stay in London, then fly home. Don't know if that can really happen but am wondering how soon we have to book rooms. Any help would be much appreciated.

We did that on the TA too and I'll never do that again. Jetlag killed me for a couple of days. This time I want to get there at least a couple of days early and be able to see London and recover from jetlag before the cruise.

Well, it saddens me to let you know that we have taken the decision to cancel this cruise and transfer to the WB Transatlantic.

I really enjoyed getting to know you all, and you were a reason for leaving cancelling this long as I wanted to cruise with you all.

I know we cruise with some of you in September so look forward to seeing you then.

Gydell, perhaps we will get to see you in May.

Marilyn, I hate that you're cancelling this cruise, but at least I'll still see you in Sept.:thumbsup2

That is true, though most are on the EB. Now that cruise is just too early for me to contemplate the Atlantic.

We did the EB one last time and it was rough! But we loved it and wanted to do it again but Brent can't miss 2-3- weeks of school during April. Wish it was in May! You'll have fun with all those sea days.

We did the British Isle cruise with Princess in late May 2002. We flew from Newark NJ to CDG Paris and took the Disneyland Bus to DLP. We stayed 3 nights at Hotel New York. We took the Eurostar train back to Paris the day before our cruise and stayed at the Marriott near the Big Wheel and across from the train station. We took the train to Southampton the day of our cruise. DLP hotel reservations do not open for June 2010 until late 2009...
We have no hotel plans for our 2010 trip but wanted to share that we did indeed get to DLP in 2002..

I'd like to get to DLP on this trip, but I don't know if that will happen. There's so much I'd like to see outside of the cruise that it would be hard to fit it all in.

Having been to DLP personally I wouldn't make the trip unless you really really wanted to!!!

How would you get from Dover to DLP?

I would get a cab from Dover to Ashford International train station and pick up the Eurostar. That will take you to Paris and there are the occasional trains that will take you directly to DLP... :thumbsup2

I thought that after looking at castles and museums for 2 weeks then it might be a break for Brent(and me). Do you not think that we would enjoy it?

Does DLP not have Magical express? :cool1:

Oh Marilyn, I'm so sorry to hear this but totally (tortolly!;) ) understand where you're coming from! The cost is scary to say the least and I really think if it wasn't for the absence of airfare we would be considering alternatives. The Transatlantic cruises are fab value when compared to this so you can relax and just enjoy yourselves... On a more selfish note, I'm so glad I can still look forward to meeting you and John in September... :goodvibes

Oh, I think you would enjoy it. Many rides are better than WDW, and in the end it is Disney. Our daughter and their children did, but we had already been to WDW and after that DLP is a bit disappointing. The CM's would be fired if they worked at WDW(not all I realise), people don't know how to queue:mad:, and they smoke all over the park . But, it is a great filler between trips for us over here.

I think I just wouldn't go out of my way if time and money is an issue.

Guess we'll have to see what prices are offered!

They do have some good deals on and off. I ahve to say it is also a great place for folk over here if they can't manage to get to Florida. Yes, after museums and heritage, Brent will be crying out for Disney!!
