Hi guys,

Just wanted to introduce myself to those who don't know me from the UK boards. My Dad (Ray) and I (David) will be doing this as our first Disney cruise and I will be celebrating my 39th birthday on 23rd June (last 'at sea' day).

Oh no - do you think you will drive down the night before and stay over?

Yes, we would do that. I would love to see the Magic arrive from the Med too.

Welcome David!!!! What a great way to celebrate your birthday.

Very nice when you disembark and just have that short hop.

I know! I can't believe it TBH - my DH is even talking about going to work once we've disembarked so he doesn't waste a holiday day... :faint:

:lmao: Well at least he shouldn't be jet lagged!!!

John usually goes in to work on the day we return from the US and finds it helps keep him awake.(I just think it stops him having to help me unpack etc!!!:lmao: )

Has anyone been looking at ports and possible excursions etc? I have read that Copenhagen is easily walkable from the terminal and you can walk and see loads. I would probably do that to save some dollars.

Not checked any excursions at the moment, but anything that can be DIY has got to be cheaper. What does the average DCL excursion cost?

Claire ;)

Hello David. :goodvibes

That would be nice. :thumbsup2

I agree - he is trying to get out of the unpacking and laundry! ;)

Yes, Richard does that too. TBH I encourage it - I'm all about conserving those holiday days for future trips... :cool2:

I've looked at some ports/excursions. I've looked at both Cruise Critic and RCCL for ideas.

St. Petersburg seemed to be one of the most expensive. I think that has to do with the visa requirements and then it just depends on how long you want to spend onshore and what you want to see.

Warnemunde, I definately want to go to Berlin. I'm wondering if they'll offer an excursion to Wittenberg. Being Lutheran that would be a must to if they did and it's only around 50 miles outside Berlin. But when you only have about 6 hrs. to see Berlin after you factor in to/from travel times, it's going to be hard to pick and choose.

Well, if I can't see Wittenberg I'll settle for the big Lutheran church in Helsinki. That's definately on my must see list.

I haven't even thought about excursions - how exciting (and $$$) will they be??!!! The only port DH and I have both been to before (albeit separately) is Copenhagen so I think we'll just be taking that one easy... :goodvibes

Berlin is a must-see for us too. It's unlikely my DH will get to go on business so we'll be up for an extended excursion there. In St Peterburg we want to spend the 2 days getting to really know the city and local area rather than going to Moscow - DH has been before and I can always accompany him in the future...

I really don't know what they will cost, but it does all add up. I would do the DCL ones to be safe and sure that the ship will wait for us if we were late.

Sounds like a good idea, esp in St Petersburg!

Yes, I like that comfort factor too. It's going to be expensive, I'm sure - I'm just factoring in the absence of long haul flights (which saves us £££) and the rather fab DU onboard credit... ;)

I know, that is a great OBC! We ended up with that for the Panama Canal Repo this May and it was a big help. Originally it was $300, but when DCL put our PC transit taxes up and there was a big hooha, DU double the OBC. When DCL recinded the extra tax because of the outrage(not the reason they gave of course), DU still gave that amount. Wasn't that good of them?

The OBC for the Transatlantic crossings is only £200. I wonder why.:confused3
