Northern Sights and Mickey's MAGICal Delights-1st Baltic Cruise-June 12,2010-Pt 2

Not to hog the boards today, but....;)

Update on the DisMeet

DCL has yet to confirm a time and location for our DisMeet. However, I did receive an e-mail that said they should be able to confirm this week. So stay tuned. We are still planning a Dismeet on the 13th - the first sea day.A favor: Does anyone have access to a dollar store or Target dollar bin and could pick up some name tags for us to you use for the meet???? I'd do this, but no such thing exists in Uganda...hmmmm:confused3
It will be a great chance to get to know your fellow DISers, have a cocktail, and just relax!
This will also be an excellent time to update the cabin roster if anyone's cabins have changed for FE purposes and Secret Mickey's. So please join us!
See everyone in less than two weeks!!!!!!:dance3:

I will be happy to bring name tags.....I won't print cruisers names on them, in case the room numbers or anything else has changed.

OMG! This is getting so exciting:yay: I packed today and decided to go ahead and pay for an extra piece of luggage;) Although I could have done it with just 2 bags it was going to be tight and really limited what I could bring home. Then I unpacked everything:laughing: Husband thinks I'm nuts (yeah, okay, so I am:laughing:) But I gotta iron the clothes first before I pack them and put wrinkles in them:laughing: At least next weekend it will all go back into the bags in a flash:rolleyes1 At least that's what I'm telling him. BA said our flight is for sure going to go to London but not sure if our flight to Paris will happen due to the strike:eek: We figure if we can't get to Paris we'll just hang out in Dover. Now if I can just get through the 3 days at work without driving everyone there nuts:lmao:

Anyone leaving this week?

I wish we were leaving this week. One week from Thursday for us. I can hardly stand the anticipation. Still so much to do and so little time left to do it in.:scared1:

We leave a week from Thurs also. Finally decided to start packing this weekend, problem is the clothes we are wearing here right now are what I need to pack!

It's edging into winter here in Brisbane, and my husband keeps saying he's so looking forward to going somewhere warm...haven't had the heart to point out that it's actually warmer in Brisbane right now than it will be in Helsinki in 2 weeks!!:rotfl:

I did do an update to the roster. We have alot of folks out there lurking! Please come and post so we can get to know you :thumbsup2

Debbie

Hi Debbie,

We finally received our new cabin number for the Baltic leg of the trip. We'll be in 6045.

Unfortunatly this means we have to change to an inside cabin for the Baltic but with the savings it won't be too bad (and we keep telling ourselves it will be too cool for the veranda).

Thanks, Bob & Dale

Kids just left for school...FEs here I come!!!!!:rolleyes1:rolleyes1 Going to try and get as much in the suitcases as possible today and then stick the suitcases back out in the garage so no one suspects anything.:rolleyes1

Caitie's starting to get suspicious...Don't know if I'll be able to keep it a secret till next Thursday.

Attention everyone interested in visiting the Hadeland Glassworks Factory in Oslo!

I received an e-mail today from Hadeland Glassworks. They have a recommended private bus service that they have worked out a special rate with to bring people to the Glassworks. The bus costs 3000 NOK (approx. $465) round-trip. This is for the bus, but I don't know the capacity. I'm assuming it will fit 10 or so people or that they have more than one.

I will call the tour operator to see if he is available on that date and if so how many people he can accomodate. However, before I make this international phone call, could everyone who is interested in joining this excursion, please let me know how many people there are in your party?

I'm estimating 10-15, but if I've missed someone please let me know ASAP!

Thanks!

On the twelth am I right in thinking we can go to the terminal at 10am? Then we get issued with a boarding ticket for later in the day. Will the people who have checked in at their Disney organised London hotels already have the earlier boarding passes? I'm just wondering what time we should try to get there .... entertaining the two little ones in a confined space is not how I want to start the holiday! Once you've checked your bags in etc would you be allowed out of the terminal to look around the town etc til your boarding time or once you're in you're in?

Thanks!
Kit

Don't forget for Russia that you must have a Russian visa if you don't use an arrranged tour. They are quite expensive, and take up to a month to get, so if you don't have one now, you most likely won't get one before the trip.

:dance3::dance3::dance3:IMO>>>>>>If I had small children I would DEFINATLY KEEP my Disney Excursion in Russia. If you want to see any of the country, I would do the Disney Organized excursions. You know you will be gettin g the BEST and you know you will be WELL CARED FOR! I understand the Disney Excursions are geared toward families....another PLUS!

:grouphug::grouphug::grouphug:

Thanks for that .... I realise we need to be on a tour really for the visa .... at the moment I'm thinking of the really radical step of not getting off at all though. If I cancel now, we DIY the other ports and if it goes well see if there is anything left for St Petersburg once we know how the children take to the travelling maybe :confused3 Just thinking out loud.

:flower3:Just an idea.....just to let you know you have options.....

I would call Disney Cruise Line guest services to make sure that you can sign up for excursions in St. Petersburg closer to the date we dock there. Then you would know how the children are handling the excursions.

Also, you can get a babysitter on the ship to take care of the smallest one, unless you are nursing. Actually you could get a sitter for both of the children in St. Petersburg. The cost of the sitter wouldn't be much more than taking themm on an excursion, and then you can actually enjoy the city.:love: They won't remember it this time anyway. :rolleyes1

looks like this is another question to call Disney Cruise Line guest services for. :chat: Especially since we aren't doing the embarkation in the US. There might be different rules in Dover.

You are one brave mommy! good luck in keeping the "secret". One time we planned a 4 night cruise leaving on Patrick's birthday, and we had to pack in secret, and then we told him we were driving over to the coast for a birthday lunch, and as we got near the ship, he says from the backseat...."I want to go on the boat!" and when we said OK!, he was so amazed!:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

cool!

Got the FE's done (have to make one more trip to the market on Friday for final touch) and packed. Secret Mickey is wrapped - at least one part of it. Girls' clothes are packed - at least everything they don't need for the next 10 days. Hopefully they won't notice that their dress shoes and dresses are not in their closets...:rolleyes1

Didn't make much progress on their scavenger hunt or my packing, but guess that can wait.

At least we've got 3 suitcases down - only 2 more to go!!! :cool1:

We have just found the message boards! Wow!! What an opportunity to meet people and gain information before the trip!!! I hope I am doing this right. We would LOVE to join the tour to the glassworks in Oslo if you still have room. There are two of us.

Good Morning all!!

Everything is starting to come together.. but still looking at that desk at work!:rolleyes1 We received our international SIM card the other day. It only took 2 days to arrive from the UK. Heck, I can't get something across town in 2 days by mail. So that is checked off the list.

This weekend we plan on packing the suitcases so we have time to adjust.

I did do an update to the roster. We have alot of folks out there lurking! Please come and post so we can get to know you :thumbsup2

To all of my US friends, have a safe and happy holiday weekend.

Debbie

Debbie, please add us to the roster (myself and DH). This is our first Disney cruise and it looks like we are a bit behind in getting ready. :confused3 So excited! Need to get organized. Thanks. "Rosie"

You see it takes someone who is getting more sleep to think that clearly :) we'll try to call them to ask about the plan of signing up to a trip at the last minute ..... also with the questions about Dover. I am nursing Millie so it would be hard to leave her for any length of time. I'm also a bit nervous about leaving the 3 year old and getting off the ship. I am sure they'll take very good care of him but :confused3 I'd hate not to be there if he needs me. YOu're right though, they won't remember it! Having said that Jack has his own little scrap book of all the character photos etc from the Med cruise when he was 6 months old and he talks as if he remembers it! He certainly gets SO much enjoyment studying the photos it was worth him ..... along with our memories of the trip.

Thanks!
Kit
