In Vancouver:

I've been wanting to do this for quite a while ... but never actually made it to a tasting.

1) If you have INTEREST in attending a beer tasting ... but thought it would be better to go with people you know ... keep reading.

2) If you wanted to attend a tasting, but did not want to leave your spouse alone ... keep reading.

3) If you are not 100% sure you will attend, but think you might like to attend ... keep reading.

I propose to take names of those who have INTEREST in attending a DCL beer tasting. Once aboard the ship, I will try to find out WHEN the beer tasting will commence. Once known, I will leave a voice mail message for you (on your stateroom voice mail), alerting you to the date and time. You will handle registration and payment on your own, directly through DCL. If appropriate, I can also leave a message (stateroom voice mail) the evening before the tasting, as noted in the Navigator.

So, if you THINK you would have interest ... send me a PM with your name, DISboard userID, and stateroom # (if known) ... along with whether you want to participate in the REPO beer tasting, ALASKA beer tasting ... or BOTH. I will keep a list ... and notify all appropriate parties when / as needed.

Spouses can opt to meet at the event, and head elsewhere during the tasting ... or ... you are usually able to attend as a non drinking guest.

Chime in if you have any other thoughts or suggestions.

Cabin number changes can be made in the Promenade Lounge from 2:30 to 3:30. The updated list will then be posted on the door of cabin #7598.

The cut off for joining the FE is April 3rd to give everyone time to get their gifts together.

FE Guidelines/Rules - here are some guidelines/rules we have discussed:
1) Everyone on the list will give one gift per cabin (if you wish to do more we won't stop you )
2) All gifts should be delivered by Monday, May 9th to give everyone time to pack all their treasures.
3) Cabin upgrades/assignment changes can be made in Promenade Lounge from 2:30 to 3:30. The updated list will then be posted on the door of cabin #7598.

Jackie, that's what we missed on the Dream....no PL with a bar and comfy chairs and easy access to our stateroom. There were lots of bars on the Dream, but none of them felt like the PL.

Some DCL guests are already referring to the MAGIC and WONDER as classic ships. I understand the Dream and Fantasy are being tweaked to intensify the return on the dollar (more revenue from onboard sales) ... but I think they missed the mark on several items (this, from someone who have not yet stepped on the Dream).

So ...
1) There is no inside gathering location, reminiscent of Promenande Lounge
2) Quiet Cove pool is too small, and too shallow
3) Kids pool and main pool are adjacent to each other (can you say NOISE, and horrendous foot traffic?)
4) Elevator access inside of upper deck / buffet (Topsiders / Beach Blanket Bingo)
5) Premium suites behind *metal bars*, and segregated to foreward section of the ship (whereas, midship is generally the most stable ... less susceptible to waves)

No doubt there will be favorite portions of each ship ... and that many will book voyages on multiple ships. I am glad the Dream wll have 5 day itineraries ... 3 & 4 days are just too short for me. I *might* consider a 5 day ... 'til the Fantasy debuts.

Did the MV B2B, and I agree with some of the comments.

As one who has never used the pools (enough other stuff to do, and there is always Castaway Cay), the sizes don't bother me. I do like the wade up Adult bar (tho, never got that one either). I do love the new hot tubs with the see thru floors (those I did use).

I did not see and increase in noise or traffic between "Classic" and "New" (coke?) midship pool areas. In fact the "new" midship has a seating area between the pools that allows better viewing of the big screen.

Elevator access not in the Buffet exactly, but you have to go thru the buffet to enter/exist the elevator/stair area (which also happens to be the pool deck).

The Concierge Suits are in the top two forward decks, that said, I did not feel any major ship movement anywhere on the ship during those cruises. Now being behind bars? That's a visual take. They are nice wrought iron looking gates and not prison bars and the same way the block the Concierge levels at AKL (with the same flaws, I can still get in). There only other option would be to block off those areas behind solid walls. Didn't see that much reason for Concierge anyway (I couldn't afford it either).

There are a lot of little cozy areas on the ship now, not just the PL. They are spread out thru the ship with little "living rooms?" stuck into corners, under stairs (deck 2), across from Services, Deck 4, the new District Bar has an area similar to the PL and there is now the Outlook Bar which is on Deck 14 midship that is quiet and can hold 50+ people.

All and all this will be the old "classic coke" vs "new coke" argument for awhile.

I don't believe it was the guests that started the "Classic" reference. We first heard it from several of the officiers. They used the "classic" reference when making comparisions between the Dream and the Magic/Wonder. My guess is that the use of "Classic" is the company standard. Im sure they don't want their officers calling the Magic/Wonder the "old" ships.

I wasn't going to go with anything "official" because I figured DCL would be having character breakfasts and Palo Bruches on the sea days and I didn't want to interfere with people attending these events (plus on the MV of the Dream we only had 8 people turn out for breakfast).

Let me know what people think....

Hi Elaine! I had a question on the Repo thread as well... Let me know what you think about a PJ breakfast for that cruise.

I remember the Dream PJ breakfast... but remember, the restaurant originally selected was closed. We don't know how many other folks might have shown up. We enjoyed being with those who did come.

I don't believe it was the guests that started the "Classic" reference. We first heard it from several of the officiers. They used the "classic" reference when making comparisions between the Dream and the Magic/Wonder. My guess is that the use of "Classic" is the company standard. Im sure they don't want their officers calling the Magic/Wonder the "old" ships.

I've been wanting to do this for quite a while ... but never actually made it to a tasting.

1) If you have INTEREST in attending a beer tasting ... but thought it would be better to go with people you know ... keep reading.

2) If you wanted to attend a tasting, but did not want to leave your spouse alone ... keep reading.

3) If you are not 100% sure you will attend, but think you might like to attend ... keep reading.

I propose to take names of those who have INTEREST in attending a DCL beer tasting. Once aboard the ship, I will try to find out WHEN the beer tasting will commence. Once known, I will leave a voice mail message for you (on your stateroom voice mail), alerting you to the date and time. You will handle registration and payment on your own, directly through DCL. If appropriate, I can also leave a message (stateroom voice mail) the evening before the tasting, as noted in the Navigator.

So, if you THINK you would have interest ... send me a PM with your name, DISboard userID, and stateroom # (if known) ... along with whether you want to participate in the REPO beer tasting, ALASKA beer tasting ... or BOTH. I will keep a list ... and notify all appropriate parties when / as needed.

Spouses can opt to meet at the event, and head elsewhere during the tasting ... or ... you are usually able to attend as a non drinking guest.

Chime in if you have any other thoughts or suggestions.
