To all: welcome to our winter wonderland. The snow started about 6am and we have about 2-3 inches on the ground. But it does have a bright side.... Vikki and I are both sick.

I found out that DCL changed the points needed for this cruise. So if you were planning to pay for this cruise with points you might want to call DVC.

Up / Down? How much? All categories?

Since we booked on first day, we used cash (less 10% dummy cruise transfer). We were surprised the cost for 2A, Cat 9 was about the same for 2A, Cat 6 - 11/27/10 Western Caribbean - which we had booked nearly 2 years in advance. Seems as though DCL is taking a page from MED & Baltics, by being a little greedy on Alaska (versus Caribbean)? Yes / No?

The points went both ways depending on where your cabin is. It seams to me that DCL is following Carnivals' pricing. You get the same cabin in size but depending on where it is on the ship will dictate your price. For example the lower decks are cheaper then the upper but they (including DCL) also change from Bow-Mid-Aft cabins. We are in a Cat 11 deck 5 if we changed to a deck 2, it will be 40 points cheaper.

I think DCL will change all the prices going forward (in 2011) because the dream is set up that way.

BTW: the travel channel has the DCL special on

Yes! If this past weekend is an indication of Alaska, I will be packing our long underware!!! We got 12-14 inches and were shoveling for 4 to 5 hours. Boy does it look pretty though! I've been dreaming of a White Christmas for many years. I hope the white stuff sticks around for a while... at least until the 25th!

Bummer about the points change. I plan to convert to points at some point in the future. I guess I will have to revisit the plan and make sure that will still work.
