DD#1 has just added "north face jacket" to her list--in the Dick's flyer she said they were as low as $65--DH is at Dick's with his friend (heck no, I don't shop today!) and he said the cheapest one he can find is $160. Anyone know a place to get reasonable NF jackets? She won't get one at that price.
Isn't it funny how at this age (13) if I got what is on her list I could spend my whole Christmas wad on her? Cell phone, Ipod, NF jacket! I tell you people, enjoy the little kids who are happy with a bunch of under $20 gifts!

$160 is about the right price for a North Face. I've never seen them go on sale. If your DD is petite you can get away with a childs large and save a little money. Both my kids live in their North Face so at least I got my money's worth.

If you have an outlet mall near you, check to see if they have a North Face. I know that our's does and I've seen some good deals there. :flower:

I mentioned this on another thread, but I bought DD15 a North Face jacket about a month ago, and she loves it. This is the first winter that she is actually wearing a winter coat!

I didn't know anything about them, but she sure did. We got hers at Sports Authority and it was $169., but 'on sale' for $129.00. I have to laugh at the 'on sale' part because $129.00 is still a good chunk of change to spend on a jacket.

And the kicker was, when we took the jacket up to pay for it, it kept ringing in at $169.00. The manager had to come out because the sale price wasn't on the jacket, it was on a sign on the rack. He finally got it straightened out and we got it for the sale price. DD's jacket is a women's xsmall. I didn't think to look in the kid's department for a large at a cheaper price.

That sounds about right. My DS who is in college has asked for one for Christmas. He does alot of walking on the cold campus so it will be a great idea for him. They don't seem to go on sale much but sometimes Sports Authority has them on sale.

As a Michigander living along lake I lived in my NF jacket. I still wish I had it.

www.sportsbasement.com usually has nice prices on them.

We buy a lot of stuff from Sports Basement and have never had a problem.

You can order by phone, also.

What particular jacket is she looking for? I have a fleece one and I love it.

The one she wants it the one everyone else has, LOL. She said "mom, don't you see the kids at your school wearing North FAce everywhere?" Well, actually our kids are not allowed to wear coats in the building, so I don't. DH said he did see a fleece jacket for $65, but he is in his "why should I get her a nice jacket when she can't take are of the stuff she has" mindset. Plus how warm is fleece on a day like yesterday when it's 18 degrees out? She has a long bus ride home and I'm sure it's cold.
I will check out that place later. I'm almost inclined to get her one or two big gifts and that will be it--she knows by this age that Santa is only working with such and such an amount of money, and that amount has to go through her, her brother and sister, 6 nieces and one nephew, plus her grandparents, so I'm sure she won't feel cheated--plus her grandparents are spoiling her rotten.

North Face is one of the best brands in active clothing. Their clothing, shoes and gear are among the best quality in the class. It's a great purchase, at regular price; at the prices on www.sportsbasement.com, it's an incredible purchase. Unfortunately, most of the stuff I want right now is "In Store Only." :(

Robin,
Log onto www.rei.com

They are a great outdoors store. (REI just opened up a new store in Pittsburgh, too!)

Plug in North Face jacket into the search slot and 24 choices of womens jackets in various prices pops up.

I'm sorry but I was :rotfl: at your comments about teens and Christmas shopping! I was just thinking the other day how much more stuff I was able to buy, and how much cheaper it was, when my kids were little! :teeth: Now they are 20 and 17 and even the stocking stuffers are $$$!

definitely check sportsbasement.com. I ordered my 2 dd's the Denali Fleece jackets for $60-that's $19 cheaper than anywhere else I saw them. They were listed as in-store item, so I called and ordered them over the phone. The girl I dealt with was fantastic and I recieved the jackets in a couple of days. Oh, shipping was a flat rate of $6 and no sales tax!!

We have also ordered in store merchandise over the phone.

The sales people are always more than helpful!!!!
