To those who have a North Face Denali- is it worth it? Are they warm? Are they nice? I got a 'steal' on one for $112 (for an adult), and I want to know if I wasted my $$$ on a brand name (and should I send it back?), or is it worth it to keep it?

To be honest- I feel guilty spending that much $$ on myself. Was it a worth-it purchase?

I do not have one because I am too cheap. My dd8 has two. One I purchased of eBay nwt for $50 and another I found at the thrift store for $4. I love them and so does she. This was the first thing she requested name brand, so I bought it for her.

I think they are well made, but I would not spend the $$$ on one for me. Actually, I am looking for a jacket for my son (who destroys everything) and I came across the Columbia Ballistic jacket. For a third of the price, it is about the same jacket. I will probably buy this for him and wouldn't mind one for me.

Yeah that's what I was wondering too- if I should spend that $$ on something else.

I got my first one a few weeks back, I got it for $89 (clearance!)

Now that I own it, it's definitely warmer than the other fleeces I have. I bought a black one from Target not too long ago, just before I bought the NF one. The difference is huge. The Target one is starting to pill already too. I looked at the Columbias also, they looked worn out in the store, not as nice as the NF. I'm not usually a "label" person, but they are definitely better quality.

I think $112 is a good price for one, I'd keep it. :)

Edited to add that my mom hesitated on buying one for herself (she's an XS so she can buy one for a song and a dance) and now she regrets it since she wore mine.

If you have any q's about it, just ask me!

:goodvibes this makes me feel so much better! AND i hear that they have a lifetime warrenty too?!

Well, did you receive it yet? Once you get it, you can compare it to less expensive fleeces and see what you think. Also, I think it depends where/why you'll be wearing it. For me, my kids have northfaces, but for myself and my own use, I find the less expensive one from Target is fine. If it's really cold I have a down jacket, so I only use the fleece for above freezing. (I think I got my fleece for about $6 on clearance at Target!)
From what my kids tell me the northface are warmer...but I really don't need it, kwim?
Enjoy it if you decide to keep it! :)

I would keep it. They seem to hold up to hard use much better than other fleeces, so you'll likely enjoy it for many years. My husband has one and it has been his only winter jacket for the last three years (we live in Seattle where the temperature seldom goes below freezing, but it is cold and drizzly all winter) and it still looks like new. He's worn it in downpours, on hiking trips, and to the office every day, and it's in great shape. I can't remember what he paid for it at REI, but it was definitely more than $112.

When it comes to outdoor wear, I generally find that the brand names are "worth it". It isn't like a pair of designer jeans, where you're paying for the look. Instead, it seems like a lot of money goes into the materials and design of the product, to make something that is actually "worth" more than a "comparable" no-name product.
