I just got a Nook 3G today and Im sure there is alot of tips and tricks I'm totally oblivious to so do you guys have any? Ive went through and got a bunch of free books.. and know about the daily promotions (got free godiva chocolates today! also went to another store and got more as we wanted to get a certain cover and light for it)

Any tips tricks secrets etc you know would rock?

Also Im going to a nook help session tomorrow if I pick up anything I'll be sure to add it here.

You can "check out" free books from your library with a Nook.:thumbsup2

love my nook! I love playing Sodoko on it too. The best trick I learned is to get a Mypoints account. If you buy books online through the bn mypoints link you get 10 points per dollar.. which I trade in for a bn gift card to buy more books! I used it with Bzz agent and between that and buying books I already got 2 free $25 gift cards since I bought the nook in June!

I got one yesterday as well- a gift so I really don't know anything about it. What are you talking about with Daily promotions? And on the library- how do I download books? Can I just access my library directly through the nook? And then check them out? And are they limited? As in can a book be all out when I go to download it? I'm assuming it eventually disappears too.

I look forward to playing with it this weekend and learning to use it. Thanks for any tips. I'll be watching this thread.

If you are in Barnes and Noble and go to shop scroll to the bottom where the big box is and click page turn there are coupons you show your nook to starbucks and get free things supposedly free coffee was last week..this week is godiva chocolate.

Thanks for the library tip golfgal how do you do that, is it like the lend me program with your friends. I love sudoku too i like setting it to the hardest.
And really 199 for something with 3g people pay that for a blackberry then pay monthly for that internet so its been helpful already the internet (we were driving I was craving a turkey dinner I googled turkey dinner restaurants in my zip code and we found one haha)

At the info session we learned how to take PDFs from your PC onto your nook which is great for business meetings that you have pdf's for!

I love my Nook!!

nookboards.com/forum is a great message board with anything nook related.

I cannot figure out how to borrow books from my library with my Nook......is the chocolate deal only good for this week? If not I'll go tomorrow and get some. :) :)
I love the deals and I love searching for free books, really I just love my Nook. :)

Does your library have ebooks? The nook supports epub and pdf books (I'm sure some others too but you'd have to convert them). You need to download adobe digital edition (I think that's what its called).

The website I posted a few posts above has some walkthough posts.

I have cards with two libraries. They don't have the best selection, but I've still found some good ebooks. I currently have the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo checked out electronically and am on the wait list for some other books.

Most public library e-book programs use the Overdrive product. Go the library's website and search it for Overdrive -- if they offer it it should come up.

Normally e-book versions of books are put into the catalog just like hardcopy books, but there will be a symbol next to the entry identifying it as an electronic resource. Open the entry, click on the link and follow the instructions to access the book or enter the waiting list for it.

I did ask they had eBooks, they said yes and gave me a flier but it didn't tell me how to use them. I did find a section on their website that talks about ebooks but I can't download them from there. Next week I go in to pick up some books we have on hold and I'll ask point blank then if I can download them to my nook. :) thanks!! I think I might swing by my B&N for free candy. :)

I'm subscribing just because we are getting a Nook in a couple of weeks and I want to be ready!

Do not know if anyone reads the Shopaholic books, but they have the first one for 98 cents this week. I read it a long time ago and it is a cute book. Nice and light.

Overdrive Library Downloads are not a nook program - nook is just one of several eReader brands that can read an Adobe Digital Editions file ... so nook owner's can participate.

http://www.adobe.com/products/digitaleditions/

That will give you the ability to download ADE ePub/secure PDF files which are the most common. Many libraries also offer MobiPocket books. To read those you will need to install a MobiPocket Reader on your computer. Mobipocket books cannot be read on a nook.

Then you go and "check out" the library book. It downloads to your Computer and is displayed by Adobe Digital Editions. You connect your nook to the computer, authorize it to your ADE account (only need to do that once) and then transfer it to your nook.
