Noob Advice 6 Adults 2 Kids in Early Jan 09

My wife and I want to take our two kids (will be 5 & 2 yrs old) to DW in early January. We'll also have both of her parents, sister and brother in law with us.

Would a DVC rental be appropriate? What is the best resort to stay in the park (easy access to transporation, food, etc...) since we all want to be in the same location. It's been almost five years since we've last been to the park.

ANY DVC resort will have great transportation options. It kind of depends on if you have a preference for one park over another. If you plan to spend most of your time at Epcot or the studios, BWV or BCV will be your best option. Just bear in mind that one set of adults is going to have to sleep on a queen sized pull out sofa. Since you have a large group going, I'd probably do OKW and enjoy the extra space. Put your parents in the Master bedroom witn the king bed, and you can take the second bedroom with the two queen beds. That way you and the kiddies will be together. Then the younger inlaws can use the queen sleep sofa in the living room. OKW has a LOT more space than the others, and also an extra real bed, so that all helps. The 2 year old would need to use the Pack N Play unless he/she can share with the older child.

Well if you want everyone in the same room renting a DVC reservation for a 2 bedroom wouldn't be a bad idea. Or you could possibly do 2 studios close to each other.

Resorts....well VWL is a boat trip to MK. BWV/BCV is a boat or a walk to Epcot and DHS. OKW/SSR are located close to downtown disney. AKV is next to AK but still a bus trip.

If this is a possibilty you may want to start looking for a reservation now....

Also, I hope your "early January" time frame doesn't include the first two weeks, because those are VERY popular times with DVC folks, and will probably be very difficult to secure at this late date.

Wow, what a quick response. We (all three couples) don't have to stay in the same room, but it would be nice to be close.

I know my wife and I love AK when we visited last.

Are there any "secret codes" that I need to use when I ask for DVC rentals in the other forum?

I guess we'd be smart to go ahead and buy non-expiring tickets NOW before the price increase right?!?

The Disney Marathon falls on Sun Jan 11, half the day before, 5K the day before that. So you'll have lots of runners all over the place for the week before and after.
