Non WDW Trips

I like seeing beautiful nature areas on vacation when not at Disney. We have seen the Rocky Mountains on one trip and went to the Badlands/Mt. Rushmore area on another. Great trips and gorgeous!

What hotel? We are thinking of going in April.

We stayed at the Best Western in Springfield, VA.

Only a 15 min. drive by car right into D.C. (right off the highway, only 2 turns get you right into D.C., super convenient) or use their really simple courtesy Van that will drop you off at the Subway terminal, and take the Subway right in to D.C. The staff is super friendly, the rooms are clean, and the continental breakfast was very good (eggs, bagels, waffles, cereals, muffins, fruit, etc.) and the breakfast area was very clean and seemed new in June of 2009. We asked the attendant for a tray so I could take breakfast back to family in the room. She got a tray, helped me pick out stuff, wrapped utensils in napkins for me, simple things mean a lot! For the money, this is a great stay. Nice pool, but we stayed there cause of the cleanliness, the locale (very close to D.C.) and of course the price. Make sure to ask for the "Manager's Special" when you call to book the room. They will leave a nice jar of individually wrapped Jelly Beans in your room for you.

Free WiFi throughout the hotel, and they have 2 computers off of the lobby for email checking, etc. (:worship:to get your fix on the DISboards:rotfl2:)

Make sure to go to the Air and Space Museum and the Museum of Natural History. My DS8 didn't want to leave either one.

I hope you have as good a time as we did.

just a dc tip-
the measum of crime and punishment is SO cool for kids. Its very hands on and a very nice photo opp.

We're another family that likes to cruise. We've also been in AI in Mexico, Antigua and Punta Cana that we had a really good time at.

For a romantic vacation DH & I love Young Island (www.youngisland.com). It is pricey though.
