just wondering whih is the best longhouse at the poly that is non-smoking. we need to have a non- smooking room because my ds is a severe asthmatic and has a smoke allergy. the reservation request only states preferred non-smoking but the fridge request was guarenteed. thanks for any help:sunny:

Check out Steve's website if you haven't already.

I would let them know that it is medically necessary to have a non=smoking room.
We were in Tokelau #3942 last Thanksgiving.... great location, clean and smoke-free!!
good luck!

Our one ds has asthma and we always request a non smoking room. We have always gotten the non smoking room. I note it when I make the reservation and I also fax in my room request 3 days before arrival. This time we even got a room pool side in samoa. I nicely explained to the cm that I was afraid ds would have an asthma attack during swimming which has happened before and I wanted to have him be able to get right back into the room. (to lay on bed and hook up to nebulizer machine). We did check in early in aug and I even forgot to fax the request as I normally do but all went well. So just explain and a fax to the room assignor will make things clear too. Good luck. We were in Poly samoa bldg. room 1602.

Just because the hallway and room may have the "non smoking" indicator on it, doesn't mean people won't be smoking in their rooms. Most (if not all) of the rooms in Tokelau are connecting rooms. If the person nextdoor to you is smoking, it will leak right through into your room.

Your best bet is to request a non smoking room that doesn't connect to another.

Our garden view room in Rarotonga, #1812 was not a connecting room and we didn't have any problems regarding stale smoke odors.

We just got back from Poly - Samoa building, room 1604. It was a wonderful location! Right by the pool (but we couldn't hear the noise with the door closed), around the corner from the beach and a few steps away from Captain Cook's snack bar. It is a non-smoking building. So, don't ask me why our next door neighbors would sit outside their room every night and morning smoking. I guess they didn't want to expose their children to it, who stayed in the room, but exposing everyone else to it was fine (sorry, I had to rant.) Fortunately, we did not smell any smoke through the connecting door, so I doubt they smoked in their room. I don't know what your recourse is if this would affect your health - asking the front desk to talk to them???? I have mild asthma and fortunately, was not affected by them.

Another asthma note - some of the air inside some of the rides affects me a little bit. Example - Spaceship Earth has a part where it smells like a fire is burning. That always takes my breath away for a moment. Sometimes other indoor rides also make me breathe a little harder. Not sure if it's from the recirculated air or what?? Just something to keep in mind for your son.

we were in Samoa this summer...loved it....we also had people sit on the patio next to us smoking...the smoke bothered me alittle...it seemed like it was blowing toward us....they seemed to be out there all the time...did love Samoa..very nice...amy
