Even as a smoker(dont shoot me), I hate the stale smell it leaves behind so I always travel with a box of Yankee votives and Febreeze. The first thing I do when I enter the room is spray everything down with febreeze and light a few of the votives and place them around the room. DH (a nonsmoker) agrees that what I do removes all the smell from the room. If it disnt work, Im sure I'd hear about it.

We had to spend the night once in a smoking room and it was horrible. When we checked out I felt like all our stuff reeked of smoke, and kept smelling stale cigarette smoke after we left.
