No, it will not work at all.
The turnstile at the second park will not admit you.
You can go to a ticket booth at the second park and add the hopping feature*, or buy/use a different ticket card at the second park#, or go back to the first park and re-enter+.
* Provided the ticket was not used more than 13 days ago, say, on an earlier vacation.
+ During some hours on busy days you might be denied entrance or re-entrance due to crowding.
# Often done for Halloween etc. parties when you arrive after 4 when you should only get out your party ticket; otherwise not cost effective.
OT: Water park fun visits may occur on days before, among, during, or after theme park days and it works in the same fashion with or without hopping.
Disney has carefully imagineered the ticket pricing structure to let you enter the parks for additional calendar days for as little as three dollars a day but having a different price for letting you choose from a wider assortment of attractions on a given day via park hopping (aka crossover).
