I'm planning 3 rest days in our next trip in December and we won't have park passes those days. What do y'all typically do on your non-park days?

In over 35 years of going I've never had a non-park day but if I did, I'd probably do a monorail resort hop, eating around the resorts and do an Epcot resort hop. I have done like half park days and the other half of the day just resort hop. I would probably also spend the day exploring my resort as well. I'm not a fan of DS so that wouldn't be something I'd do except maybe to grab a meal. If you have access to a car, maybe explore the other things Orlando has to offer.

The answer will be hugely different if you have a vehicle as opposed to not. So I can't answer without that information. Also if you do have your own transportation be sure to include if you are afraid of driving off property or not. That also will change the answers.

No, we won’t have a car.

I don’t know what will be open then but besides what was said, Boardwalk is a quarter to half day visit. Look up what your resort or other resorts are doing for Christmas this year. Look up what other events your resort is doing- outdoor movies, marshmallow roasting. Out of park fun dinner plans- luau or Hoop dee Doo Revue, fireworks at California Grill.
Or what the heck- Uber it to Universal and do it. Cmon. No shame. You only love once. 🤷🏻‍♂️😂

Not sure if you’re drinkers but my husband and I did a Skyliner resort bar crawl last month and it was a super fun way to spend an afternoon and evening - started at Pop, then Caribbean Beach, Riviera, then dinner at Ale and Compass at Yacht Club. I also cannot recommend enough going to Kennedy Space Center if you are interested in that kind of thing. We were super impressed with how well everything was done, with highlights being seeing Atlantis and the Saturn V rocket. There are companies that run shuttles out there if you won’t have a car. You could also consider Universal, especially if you’re Harry Potter fans.

We are definitely drinkers! I like the resort bar crawl idea, that sounds so fun. Adding that to the list of things to do on our off days!! And, we loved Ale & Compass when we last went.

Christmas Decorations tour. I would bus to MK then hit the monorail Resorts & WL. Maybe snack & cocktail at the resorts.

I'd definitely check out other resorts. I don't know what all is and is not available these days, but I had been seeing here and there people mentioning that more resort activities were coming back. I'd love to go check out some of the activities at other resorts. Or even just trying small bites at different places to eat, and walking the grounds, or relaxing in the lobbies of other places.

I also like taking Disney's non-bus transportation, so if I could arrange a combo of DS & resorts that would allow for me to make use of the Skyliner, Monorail, or different boats, I'd really like that. :)

Of course, one always has the option of using Uber/Lyft to leave property and do something else as well.

And, no lie, WDW trips wear me out!! So I'd most definitely work in some extra ZZZs on those non-park days--either by sleeping in, snoozing in a hammock some where, or just flat out spending time napping in my room. :)

If it is offered in December (and I am not sure what is and is not offered due to Covid right now), I would highly recommend the Wilderness Back Trail Adventure at Fort Wilderness which is a Segway tour (including a little off-roading) through FW. Our guides were great and we had a wonderful time. We actually made a day of it and after the Back Trail Adventure we ate lunch at the QS at the FW pool and then took the archery class at FW in the afternoon. I have not done it personally, but my step-brother and his daughter did a horseback riding tour at FW so that is another option.

My other suggestion (although this isn’t something I have done yet) is to plan a spa visit at GF or SSR.

If you don’t mind some physical activity, you could rent a surrey bike at BW.

as others have said, depends on what things open back up but in the past i have shopped at disney springs, miniature golf, movies, def resort hopping with 3 meals at 3 diff locations, laid by the pool, and if solo, sleep. i never get to do that much with others. the spa sounds like a good idea too though i've never done that so can't comment specifically but i'd like to.

My wife and I just returned from an April trip, we took a day off from the parks in the middle of the week.
We grabbed an ADR at Sanaa for around 2pm (they feed the animals in front of the restaurant at 3pm) had a great meal and watched all the animals while we were dinning. We then went outside and spent some leisurely time watching the animals outside as well. We then grabbed the bus over to HS and did a little resort hopping on the Skyliner, from HS to the resorts and over to EPCOT. We walked over to the Boardwalk, Y&BC and Swan and Dolphin, took the Friendship boats back over to EPCOT, rode the Skyline back to HS, caught a bus to the Poly had a Dole Whip. We then caught the boat over to MK where we grabbed another boat to WL. Did a quick tour of WL and then caught a bus to DS for our dinning reservations at Raglan Road. That pretty much took up the day and we checked out multiple resorts we had never seen before. The Skyliner was really enjoyable in the day time when it wasn't so busy.

Sleeping in, swimming at the resort, horseback riding at Fort Wilderness, miniature golf.

Local here... I live in Winter Garden, right out the back gate of Disney... Being a Local Florida girl... There is alot to do here... while we love the Parks and what they have to offer... Florida has so much more to see and experience... I invite you to check it out...

All the above ideas are really good..

We have friends that like to go the water parks... Yep in December... I can tell you that I most of the time we are still wearing shorts in December... and people will be in the pools... just a thought...

You could Uber...

Over to I-drive and ride the "Eye Over Orlando" and there is a small Aquarium, or check out Wonder Works ( the upside down house) All on I-drive.... have dinner on I drive somewhere...lots and lots to choose from.

Lots of shopping here. Mall of Millennia, two Outlets malls .. If you have any outdoors folks in your party... I would suggest the Outlet at the end of I drive, as there is a Bass Pro shop, right across the street for them to check out.

Car Rental..

You could rent a car, and head for the Cocoa Beach for the day... and I would suggest Jetty Park nice beach, and you can watch the ships come in and out of the port, maybe a trip to Ron Jon's and have Dinner at Grills at the Port...

Again if you rent a car you could check out Kennedy Space Center, really worth the drive to see it...

Something that some friends do is there is a bike trail... I think its called "West Orange Trail" and a places that rents bikes, and most of its on the different lakes, and parks, goes through some of the little quaint down towns, where you can stop and check out, and there are some pretty good restaurants and there are places for you to park the bikes...

There are also, some companies that offer boat tours on the lakes, as well you might want to think about a Manatee tour on the St. Johns River, which is at Blue Springs... As the water gets colder, the manatees come up into the springs... last year there were so many, and so many new calves... a record year... Oh and there is a Paddle Boat lunch cruise that goes up the St. Johns...

We always drive to a beach. We are tacking two days on the end of our next trip to go to Clearwater Beach.

Resort hopping and looking at the Christmas decorations and gingerbread houses around the different hotels. Sampling whatever seasonal drinks/snacks they offer.

Love riding the monorail around and resort hopping / seeing the shops / pool facilities. The resorts can be almost as fun and magical as the parks sometimes. Also great dining.
