Non-DDP - Sharing acceptable?

We're still debating on whether to include the DDP for our September, 2008 trip. My question is this: have you ever been hassled with sharing food with your child (in my case, a 4 year old) when not doing the DDP? I think that the portions for most of the restaurants can be shared between DD and I, but I don't want to cause any issues with the servers if sharing typically isn't allowed. Any advice/input? Thanks so much!

There will be no problems sharing food if you are paying out of pocket, unless you are at a buffet. At a buffet, you will be charged per person, regardless of how much each person eats and whether or not your child eats food off your plate.
