Noise level of Jambo House DVC Standard Studio lobby rooms

My wife and I intend to be staying at a DVC Jambo House Standard Studio room next December (2nd week).
I am researching information to make a room request.
My primary desire is to simply be close to the lobby (avoiding long walks) and have a decent view (not necessarily of animals) - I figured I'd be more likely to get my request met if I didn't request a partial-Savanah room as those might be in higher demand
So, my first instinct was to request Room 5401 (right next to the lobby elevator) since it has a nice view overlooking the pool with trees in the background.

Then, I saw some conflicting statements about 6th floor CL rooms overlooking the lobby when it comes to noise level and it gave me pause since the DVC rooms are only one floor down.
Is the noise (drumming and television) really as bad as some folks say?
What about during sleep hours (11 PM - 5AM)?
What about rooms right off of the lobby, like 5408, 5410, 5412, or 5418 (Zebra Trail)?

I'm not particularly susceptible to noise - I can sleep through quite a bit.
My wife on the other hand can be somewhat sensitive (when trying to fall asleep) as she has tinnitus.
I expect that we won't be spending a lot of time in the room. It's all going to be park days or pool days.

Thanks in advance for the advice.

Congrats on planning so far in advance!

The good news is that I find the noise from the lobby to be nonexistent in the 6th floor studios - esp. during sleep hours. Every now and then, you can hear a small child screaming downstairs - but they have to be really loud in order to hear it thru the doors.

The drumming used to be around 8pm in the evening- but with no international program people, there is no drumming.

The bad news is that you'll have more luck requesting a general location ( near the lobby) instead of requesting a specific room. It's almost as if they say " we couldn't give him 5401, he's going to be irritated anyway - might as well put him at the end of the hall".

That's great to hear and very helpful.
Thanks also for the advice on general location - Truthfully, I don't have a desire for a specific room. I just want to provide them a specific example for a location.

To put your mind at ease, we found the drumming to have been paused over a week back while I was there in a dvc club level room (early December). Most likely paused for the time as it conflicts with the Christmas music. Can't make promises for next year.

I have hearing issues and hate the loud drums so the peace without them was very welcome. Also, the TV volume was so low we had a hard time hearing it sitting right in front of it.

That's great info, thank you so much!! Although I am a Disney veteran, it will be my wife's first time. I really want her to have a pleasant experience.

noise levels at AKV rooms near the lobby are fine, IMO.
I'm not overly sensitive to noise, but you get more noise from kids running down the hall than you get as a general "hum" of people from the lobby.
I haven't encountered it at AKV, but In the rare situations I find myself in a room where the noise is bothersome, I Just put on my whitenoise app on my phone and hook up my bluetooth speaker. drowns everything right out.

That's great feedback. Thank you, I appreciate it!

Jambo! I love AKV, but have only stayed there 3-4 times & don’t remember ever hearing the drums in my room. My first studio was on zebra trail- one of the very first rooms around the corner from the lobby overlook. There was plenty “hall” noise as a lot of people must walk by it to/from their room. The 2nd time, I stayed right on the lobby overlook & I was concerned about noise. It was actually much quieter bc so few people had to walk directly by my door! I was very pleasantly surprised.

But as @YourEveryDayAdam suggested- I don’t travel anywhere w/o a white noise app going at night. I want to sleep well & that really helps!!

OP, that's a good question, and hopefully Jambo is much better than WL, and based on PP it sounds like it is. Our friends stayed at WL (lobby room) and after the 3rd day they asked to be moved because of the lobby noise. They said that the lobby just amplified the noise so much that they constantly heard voices etc.
