Hi,
Just posted a thread about Savannah room v standard rm at AKV.

Have been notified there may be a lot of noise from construction works at Kidani (apr 09) as they are trying to open resort for the summer 09.

Any update on this? How is construction affecting Jambo House?
I didn't hear much noise when I was there in April this year BUT I WASN'T STAYING AT THE RESORT.How far away is it exactly from the Lodge?

I wondered if i should be looking for any particular Savannah or standard rms at Jambo to avoid noise etc-DH 'light' sleeper (& is recovering from an operation on his ear) and its his FIRST trip to Disney so want to create a good impression!!

We were told that most of the construction noise is drowned out by the noise of the thundering herds of Water Buffalo, Giraffes and Elephants. ::yes::

We stayed in a Savannah studio in March and heard no noise at all.

We just returned on Saturday from AKV in a value Savannah view studio and there was noise that could be heard from our room starting in the early mornings and you could hear it all day. I dont think they work on weekends though. It was not really to bad if you were in the room with the door closed but you could still hear it. Our room was on the Ostrich trail so I dont know if any other ones were as bad though. We can sleep through anything but it did wake me up a couple of mornings but it was still Wonderful.

First, noise at Jambo now depends mainly on location of room. Those facing the Sunset savanna where Kidani is being built have the risk and those are about a third of the rooms and consist of savanna view rooms facing the sunset savanna, some of the the value rooms which face that savanna, and three of the five 2BR lock-off concierge rooms which face the sunset savanna. The existing standard rooms face the pool where there is no construction noise. If you get Arusha or Uzima savanna view (either can be requested and about 2/3's of the savanna view rooms have one or the other of those views), you also do not have the issue. Second, opening date is still not set for Kidani but it may be done by April 09. Also, even if not done by then, it is unlikely that there will be much construction noise -- by then most work to be finished should be on the inside of the structure resulting in less noise outside.

Just back last night from week at AKV. We requested Arusha or Uzima Savannahs and got Arusha. Thank goodness! From what I could see of Sunset, the only thing out there was an ostrich and lots of trucks and construction. We heard no construction noise from where we were. I was so glad someone on these boards advised me to call ahead to request a certain area. The cm checking us in said everyone wants Arusha, but we did get it, and it was awesome!

We are currently in a studio on Sunset Savannah (although we requested any other savannah). There is definitely construction noise during the day. If you close the door, you do not hear it. There have been animals own this savannah during the week but not as many as the other savannahs. We are just above the lobby and our room is convenient to everything. While we could have changed rooms two days into our stay, we chose not to be "homeless" for almost an entire day while waiting for a new room. Despite the construction views, we love it anyway and hope to stay here again in the future.

I've been lurking on the boards for years and have become in the know with DVC through all of you guys, thanks for that. Seeing this posted definitely helped me since we are leaving this weekend for AKV with some friends who have never been to DW. I called and requested that we do not get sv with our value studios. Thanks for the heads up! We will see what we get. :)

:welcome: Kiffyann glad to have you come out of lurkdom.
