My DH and I went the first week last Dec. Our first room, we were on the first floor, under someone, and I could have sworn, the children wre running relay's above our heads. Because I had asked, I knew the occupancy was only 25%, so I requested another room. we were immediately changed and things were great for 2 nights, then on the third night, while walking to our door, we passed 5 bikes, leaning against our stairs, and they must have been running relays also.

We LOVED our time there, and I can see some muffled noise with a lot of action in the room, but not a consisitent THUMP, THUMP THUMP THUMP THUMP THUMP THUMP. I am not even esagerating (sp?). I knew if they were moving from the couch to the Kitchen or into a bedroom. It was really loud. HHI was beautiful and the accomodations fantastic, but the insulation between rooms was less than really cheap apartments. and that was in two separate buildings.

Has anyone else had this? I know next time, I will request the 2nd floor for sure, but we will definitely go back.

We've been to HH twice, and both times we requested top floor, and have gotten it. We asked friends there who were on the first floor (they requested it because they brought their mom who has limited mobility) how the noise above was. They said you could hear them above you, but it was not terrible. I've read about this issue on the boards at other resorts, and reminded my 3 kids not to be running around because I knew we had a family below us.

I had forgotten about this. The only time I noticed it was at 5:30 am when my upstairs neighbor woke up. It was more of a squeak, squeak, squeak (as opposed to a thump) every time he or she took a step. It continued for half an hour or more, until I assume he/she left the room. Thank goodness they weren't doing morning aerobics!

We stayed at HHI on our way back from the DCL in January. We were on the lower level and in the middle of the night (3 or 4 a.m. maybe) I started hearing the people above us. I guess they were packing up to leave and I kept hearing a bouncing noise, like a large marble. Eventually, (it felt like an hour), they were gone. DH didn't hear any of this and wants the lower level at OKW this summer because he does most of the luggage shlepping. I had honored his request by requesting the lower level, but I called DVC the other day and took the request off and requested upper level and we'll all help with the luggage.;)

Well, I am glad I am not making too much of it, but I am sad that other people have had to experience it also. I would want to dismiss it, but it was SOOO constant. Definitely an upper floor next time!
