I picked this cruise because it will be easier for my kids to miss school in April then in Sept. Our school district runs Sept-June.

I dreamt last night that I got on the cruise and lost my soft sided cooler :) I was looking everywhere for it.

Hi everyone,
I am not on this cruise (yet) :rolleyes1 , but my DH and I are thinking about one of the TA cruise. I am just curious about the reasons you selected this cruise instead of the Westbound, was it the weather or the ports, etc.? I am a little concerned about the weather in April. I would appreciate any opinions, experienced advice, etc. Thanks...Vicki

For us the west bound was not possible with our work schedules. :laundy:

The weather should not be a factor .... no hurricanes in the spring. :confused3

Just cooler weather, I imagine...

Alot of us here sailed on the WB PC repo together... Some are also doing the WB, but I think this one has the most of us so far... :goodvibes

Actually, we were on the WBPC repo also, but I broke my wrist in Acapulco, and missed out on so much after that, and we didn't get to join in on a lot of things. I really am sorry that we missed the wonderful bonding experience all of you had :sad1:

I am still deciding whether or not to do this cruise, but I'm not interested in the westbound. My birthday falls during this cruise, and I prefer the eastbound's extra European port plus an overnight in Barcelona to the westbound's two Caribbean ports. The EB is also less expensive (booked right now) than the WB for the least expensive cabins. I expect the weather will be cooler in April than it would be in September, but for me - it's this Disney cruise or no Disney cruise.

Very good points:confused:

I chose this cruise because of the price, and also because originally I was planning to go with my twin brother and he will likely be transferring to a new college during the WB.

But now I'm going with my dad, which is good because now the only school schedule I have to work around is my own. Also, it's good because I love my daddy and we don't get enough time to hang out as it is, let alone when I (hopefully) transfer to an out-of-state college this fall.

I'm a bit worried about weather, too, because I didn't even think about rough seas! I'm especially worried about Parrot Cay, because on my Bahamian cruises that has been the place I've felt most queasy. Also I was checking out the average temps for our ports and finding that they are in the 40s-50s at that time of year. But I've decided that nothing's going to stop me, and by golly I'm taking this cruise!

The weather does concern me too. You are so fortunate to have a dad you look forward to cruising with. I admire your attitude and determination!

We originally booked the Westbound Transatlantic. I wanted the EB as coming from Europe, jetlag won't be an issue. Before we are able to adapt to the time difference, we are slowly but surely heading back to our own time zone. DH thought the weather would be nicer on the WB and again coming from Europe, the two extra Caribbean ports are a big incentive. So we booked the WB as soon as we could. Then we had a look at the one way fares and we figured with what we save being able to buy return fares plus the fact that we have to eat and drink at home as well, we would break about even doing the EB as well. So that is the plan. We are just waiting for the right moment to book this.

Can we come live with you????:worship: I would love B2B TA cruises!!!

Thanks for all your quick replies, it's alot to think about.....Vicki

Ok... everyone... I am taking the info off of post #4 so I can go through the list I have and put a more up to date list up... so if you get a notification in your email...it's just me doing maintenance... I will skim in the next couple of days and update what I can...

If you have not already posted a picture, please do so... then I can put you in with our cruising list....

Thanks much :thumbsup2

Ohhhh Vicki... I remember you broke your wrist...

Just think you have a second chance to bond with all of us!!!! :grouphug:

Hi Vicki!!

How are you (& your wrist) doing?

I chose this one over the WB due to $ - there are Thieves on both cruises so I knew I'd have friends on either. $ was really the only deciding factor.

Are you still doing a baltic w/ DCL?

Hi Monica,
My wrist is doing pretty good, although I am afraid I have developed a trigger finger, and possibly RSD from the fracture. We are still booked on the Baltic, but in all honesty-if Disney doesn't cut the price A LOT!!!, we will probably cancel. I can't justify 1K a night to sleep on a boat. I love the mouse, but that is crazy.

I booked the EB because
1. it is in April - out of hurricane season. Yes, I know the ships do an excellent job of getting out of the way, but still - I didn't want to have to worry about one.
2. European ports instead of Carribean ports (except CC of course ;) ) - plus the overnight in Barcelona
3. I'd rather worry about getting to the plane to come home rather than worrying about getting to Barcelona and then to the ship.
4. I might be able to extend my trip by flying to London (or Dublin) and spending a few days there before coming home - since I'm already over there :goodvibes

Some very good points-if you want to continue your vacation in London, it would be a good time. I am just afraid it will be way too cold.

Kristi

I picked this one over the WB one because of the extra stops in Europe. I've been to the Carribbean plenty of times, but never to Europe.

A definite plus.

I chose this one because of:
  • Stops in Europe
  • Barcelona
  • The Eastbound is sailing during the High Holidays

Also good points. I've never been to Spain. (Sounds like a possible song title, huh?) ;) I would really like to visit Barcelona. I don't know about sailing during the High Holidays, but it sounds nice.

I've had several parents tell me something similar, but not an issue for us. We're old geezers.:rotfl2:

I was just worried about the cold temps, and the rocky sailing. But it would NOT keep me from going.

Thamks....We are going on the B2B cruise with the Thieves in Sept. I am hoping we will get to know everyone better:thumbsup2 I hope you will be able to go on the cruise also.

Well thanks everyone who gave their opinions. I really appreciate it. We will have to weigh all the answers I got from both threads-I posted the same question on the WB thread. One of the best reasons from the WB thread was that it gave the person 5 extra months to save for the cruise.:goodvibes Maybe we will join you-if not-I hope you ALL have a WONDERFUL!!!!! cruise. Thanks again....Vicki

Are you posting on the thread over there??? There is a possibility that I will be on that cruise also... :goodvibes

VICKY
the reason i am going on the EB over the WB you can bring as much wine and RUM(and pineapple juice) as you can carry on!!!!!!!!!! the WB your limited to the 2 liters or so...

karl

Or the little 3 oz bottles of booze you can fit into a ziplock bag in your carry-on... :rotfl:

I also had a dream about this cruise, I went to checkin and I didn't have any identification, and when i went to look for it, my backpack was gone, my wife was gone and my shoes were gone. I'm sure there is something in that dream that says who I am, I just don't know what..

I chose it because of the extra ports in Spain too :thumbsup2 I am going to the Carribbean, EB Tortola then WB B2B for the first time this Sept, but I have never been to Europe either :cool1: Last May, the PC cruise was very warm :goodvibes and I'm expecting the B2B's to be the same this Sept so...if I have to suck it up and wear long pants and sweaters for this one, I'm ok with that :lmao: And since it's fairly early in the year, if I freeze, at least I still have the summer to look forward to!
