Nobby's Gnomies... heading to WDW in April 2010

The doctor never got back to me. :headache: My feet are feeling better but that's because I barely walked at all today. I was completely lazy and had them elevated most of the day.

Jen (MM)-I completely understand the reason why you would want to move. I'm an only child too and it was tough growing up in a neighborhood with no kids to play with. I did have both sets of my grandparents on either side of me, but overall, I pretty much had to play games with my stuffed animals for a looooong time

EXACTLY!!! I try to be a good playmate for her---we colored for over an hour today :)---but I know she is yearning for more kid time. She had a playdate at a friend's house not too long ago, and some of the neighborhood kids came over to play too. Her comment in the car on the way home was, "Wow Mommy---other kids live in Maggie's neighborhood!!!" She just didn't even know that was an option!

Hey MM, good to hear from you again! We are hoping to move in a couple years, partly for the same reason. Lots of older and younger people in our neighborhood, very few kids.

What is it they always say in real estate.....Location, Location, Location! It is so true at times!

Oh goody! I'll look forward to pics! Moving is exciting but very stressful. Hang in there! I hope you'll be able to book a trip soon too!!

BTW, ladies, the latest Mickey Monitor for passholders is out as well as a special scavenger hunt list for the Studios in honor of the 20th anniversary. I have email addresses for Jackie, LL, Katie, Stacy, Julez and Jen (JJ) so I'll go ahead and send (feel free to delete if you're not interested). Jess, Jen (MM) or anyone else- if you would like me to send to you, just PM me your email address. :)

The trip actually came back up in conversation at dinner tonight. I really do think it will happen....he is just waiting to get through the next week or so---his company announced through the media around here that they are laying off 200 people....many have already gone...I think he is just making sure he isn't going too. Once things settle back down, I really do think we will be booking.....and then the madness begins!!! Oh what little time I will have to plan everything!!!! :scared1:

I am glad they are feeling better, but still worried about you!!! I don't want this to be a problem for you at WDW!!!

Good Morning Gnomies.

It's Friday!

Yay! :yay:

Two weeks from this time, I will be on a plane making my way to Disney. :cloud9:

Before then though I have to survive the next two weeks. BAH! I have so much planned to do and I am not happy about any of it, I hate being overscheduled.

I heard back from the doctor.

I do not have a heel spur. I am shocked about that because I really thought I did. She did say that I am showing mild signs of arthritis, which scares the carp out of me. She prescribed some pill with a fancy name for the swelling...which I won't be able to pick up until AFTER work. Sigh. Oh well. At least I have a prescription and hopefully the swelling will go down. Yay!

Oh LL--so sorry about your feet!!! At least you will have a prescription.....did they think it would go away so that it won't bother you at WDW??? I hope so!!!

I have been meaning to ask you this and keep forgetting......with everything going on this summer---the move, crazy cuts at Tom's work, etc.---we are thinking that we would feel better about the trip if we can cut back a little on the cost. So we are actually considering staying at a value---never have done this yet---and I wanted your opinion and all feedback on what it was like staying at Pop in September.....crowds, buses, you know, the whole shebang!!! Give me all the lowdown....I'm so desperate for details!

The doctor seems to think that with the prescription they will go down. I really hope so. :scared:

I don't blame you for wanting to cut back on the cost of a trip.
We did enjoy Pop but we found it really hectic, if that makes sense. I didn't feel like I could relax. A lot of people may contribute that to me not having kids but I grew up with my mom running a daycare, I did tons of babysitting and I used to have 2 step daughters with my ex....I know and like kids. I still found it hectic.
We did enjoy it though. There was a great variety at the food court and the rooms were clean. I also loved that there were multiple pools to swim in.
The buses were good. We never had to wait that long, though we did have to stand a few times. Plus there was no cover on the bus stops which I find just odd.
We will stay there again I am sure. I want to try the other values first though. I can give you my review of All Star Music when I get back. ;)

I am definitely looking forward to that review girlie!!! Do you know if they have covered bus stops? Just wondering!

What made the resort feel hectic? Waiting for the buses? Trying to relax around the pool? Or just trying to get around the resort?

I don't think any of the values have covered bus stops.

I always felt on edge at Pop. People (CM's and guests) were hustling and bustling everywhere, even really late at night. I think I picked up on other guests being frazzled and it made me feel tense. I don't even know if that makes sense. :rotfl2:

This is what I worry about---Tom has SUCH a low tolerance for people that it worries me that he will be so stressed out the entire time we are there......oy vey!!!!!

Yeah. I am more high strung then Marc is so I think it affected me more but even Marc said he didn't want to go back to Pop until we had kids of our own. :lmao:

You have mainly stayed at dvc resorts right? I'd worry that the shock of going from relaxed vibe to Pop would be scary. ;)

I've heard good things about ASMu so I am hoping it's a bit less hectic than Pop.

I've stayed at ASSp in Oct... ASMu in Oct.... and Pop in Feb (not all in a row LOL!!) Pop is fun..the food court is very good...but i agree with LL..it is rather hectic. It's not my personal fave of value resorts:confused3 I like ASMu much better... smaller/less crowded/less unchaperoned teens (not as mant school/sports groups seem to be there compared to sports/pop)... downside is that the gift shop is small and the food court is "eh" Since I don't shop at the resorts much ...or eat there either...neither was a big deal to me.

I liked POP, don't get me wrong.... my girls absolutely LOVED it!

None of the values have covered bus stops... and they all have just 1 stop, outside the main building.

Does that help at all??

I don't blame you for wanting to cut costs. honestly how much time do you spend in the room anyway:confused3 Thevalue rooms are small...but should be fine for the 3 of you. It was a little crowded with me, my mom, and my 2 girls...but they're bigger than Megan..plus I'm not used to sharing a room with my snoring mother:scared:

Paula

Unchaperoned teens was another biggie at Pop that annoyed me too. Well said, Paula!

I appreciate all this advice---I am now starting to think about throwing ASMu into the mix--I think Megan would definitely enjoy the theming---what are the different themes of the rooms? I can't remember!

Rock, Jazz, Broadway(where I hope to stay!), Country, Calypso.....I think that is it. Am I missing anything Paula?

Okay---I meant to ask about ASMovies.....typo!!! I know Tom and I would enjoy Music--we are both music lovers---but I think Movies might really tickle Megs.....does anyone know what the sections are?

Your town sounds great!! Funny I had a call on my cell phone from a number I didn't recognize and googled the area code. It was Iowa and for a minute I thought, I wonder if Katie is calling. :lmao:

If I had your number C, I might just call out of the blue to say hi! Jen O sometimes sends me a text message just to say hi and it brightens my day everytime!

Now that I've been eating better for a while now I notice a huge change in how I react when I fall "off the wagon." It's really amazing. Not enough to always keep me on the wagon but interesting nonetheless. :rolleyes1

:rotfl2: Yeah, it's hard some days! I know it's better for me but gosh food is just so good! With my second pregnancy, my taste for food went away, it was really wierd. It just wasn't very appealling and I got full really quickly...I LOST 30 pounds with that pregnancy (of course once my taste for food came back, so did some of that weight :rotfl:)

Hmm, I didn't get it. Can you try again please!

Oooh, you are so lucky!!!! try to enjoy your time leading up to it!

hmm, interesting. I hope the prescription helps!

I know I will likely stay at the values more than any other category but this is exactly my concern about them. They are themed beautifully, but to me in a way that is not relaxing. When I return to my hotel, I want to feel like I am escaping from the hustle and bustle of the parks and the values just don't do that for me. That's why I liked OKW so much...lots of grass and trees and space between the buildings gave it a very laid back feel. I always see that when I look at your pics of wilderness lodge. NOW, if it was between the values and not going...I would deal with it!!

:lmao: Toy Story, Herbie the Love Bug, Fantasia, 101 Dalmations and Mighty Ducks.

Exactly, Katie!! We adored WL but it won't always been in the budget. I would like to try Riverside or POFQ next but if a value makes it easier for me to go to Disney then I am A-OK with that. :thumbsup2

Okay, Megan would be in heaven in a Toy Story room......does anyone know how the Movies compare to Music?

It's another boring day at work today. With the end of the semester, my responsibilities are few. the only major thing on my plate ahead of me is summer camps in July. they are all planned out, I just have a couple meetings and a few details to be ready. I'm not really sure what I am going to do to fill my time for the next 2 months. *SIGH* and I'm not getting paid in full this month because they gave me some of May's paycheck in August. I was just thinking this morning if only I could find cheap tickets to join Jen and LL in 2 weeks (it will never happen, but I love to dream)

I think I will call my sister in law and see if she wants to do lunch, I'm bored!
