Nobby's Gnomies... heading to WDW in April 2010

Jen (MM), what an absolutely beautiful story -- it was very touching and made me misty-eyed as I read it. I am so glad that this weekend was able to help you heal in so many ways! I love you, girlie!!!

CP--I would say this privately, but the sentiment goes for all so I will share it publicly.....

CP....I have "known" you the longest of all my "DISfriends," and I have truly been blessed to have your friendship come into my life. We became acquainted at a time when many of my other friends were arrogantly attacking Tom and I for the decisions we have made in our lives. Although our main focus in our friendship has been to joyously share in our mutual love for all things Disney, I have always felt so unabashedly and unconditionally accepted and supported by you and the rest of my circle of DISfriends regardless of the topic of our conversations. I truly feel that I have been blessed to have all of you here in our DISland to help support me when my other friends have not. Many people can not understand how a group of strangers could possibly come together and be such an important and meaningful influence on each other and support to each other, but I feel so grateful that I have all of you...truly I do! I'm sorry for those that do not understand---it is truly their loss! Again, thanks for letting me share, for being such wonderful FRIENDS, and for always allowing each other to ramble and babble on and on about our fierce and unending love for all things DISNEY!!! I love you girlies---you are TRULY AMAZING! :grouphug::love:

Jen (MM) First of all  I'm so happy for you and I hope that you won't mind that I will pray for you as you continue on this journey. I'm like you I often am not sure how much I should discuss my religious views so I just don't, but thank you for sharing your story. Nothing makes me happier than to know that my friends are finding love and security. I'm sorry for all that you and your family had to go through! I'm very thankful that you have had some friends that have encouraged you also...some of the greatest blessings in my life are friends who encourage me in the good times and especially during the bad. Once again thank you for sharing your story, it has uplifted my spirit!

Thanks Jen and thanks for letting me share!!! I will take any kinds of prayers out there---especially ones from dear friends! I appreciate it! I am so glad that my weekend could help uplift your spirit as well!

I'm having a really bad day at work. I'm sick and tired of being the scape goat for everyone here. :sad2:

MM --thank you for sharing your story, my eyes are misty and my heart feels swollen:hug: I'm so happy that you were able to lift some of that burden. Maybe next year I'll go with you...I have some burdens that have weighed me down a long time and just can't seem to talk about or get past. As a result I totally understand where you're coming from:flower3:

I got to tell my boss... I QUIT this morning...what a wonderful feeling! He never made eye contact with me...he just said "oh that's too bad" and asked why..I told him I was ready for a change and to get off nights he said "you've worked them a long time..yeah it's time for you to move on" End of conversation. It lasted all of 20 seconds:lmao:

Paula

I am so sorry, LL! Did it get any better? I haven't had the best day either -- they are forecasting bad, bad, bad weather for Saturday, and I am all in bunches about it. :scared:

Not in the way of housing or anything. We have been down there lots to visit and explore in a touristy kind of way -- it's a gorgeous historic town.

Are you thinking of moving there??? (Please say yes.)

Well I have been telling Marc that I was meant to live down South and that we should really move once we get our debt paid off. He doesn't want to move to Florida, as he puts it, "It is Heaven's Waiting Room" with all the retired people down there. So I told him he should find a place where he'd want to move, I have been pushing fondue parties at your house and he found some information on Savannah and he wants me to look into to see if I like it. We've been talking about it a lot, after we pay down our debt which will be a few years moving somewhere to see if we like the change of pace. We could take pay cuts if we are debt free or close to it but not at the moment.

That would make my day if you moved down to Georgia in a few years!!! :goodvibes WDW would only be about six hours away from Savannah as well.

Remember, too, that the cost of living is substantially lower in the South as compared to the Northeast. That can make a big difference when looking at salaries, etc.

I keep telling that to Marc in regards to salary. I think it would be awesome for us to strike out on our own. I know I would miss my parents but even if it's not a permanent move, I think it would be good for us. Who knows, we may love it and stay forever. Or we may have kids and not ever want to leave up here. LOL. I just love that he really seems to be considering it. I told him we need to go on a fact finding mission in Georgia! :rolleyes1

You should do so! We could meet you down in Savannah for a long weekend! There are lots of historic bed and breakfasts there. Oh, and you should read Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil. :thumbsup2

I will put that on the list! It's one I have been wanting to read.

We have in our mind the thought of driving down and exploring and then going onto Disney at some point. That way we can explore, do Disney and tell our parents the drive isn't that bad. :rotfl2:

Good thinking!

Marc suggested just going to Georgia for a long weekend and I asked how far from Disney we would be. I think I snorted at him when he thought I would drive that close and NOT go to Disney, foolish husband.

Foolish indeed -- you can't be practically within spitting distance of WDW and not go!

UGH :headache: I was debating what to make for dinner and decided to go see what we had in the freezer downstairs. I was looking around and was wondering what was still in the bag on the top shelf. When I reached for it, my fingers sqeezed on the chicken. As I put it back it occurred to me...chicken in a freezer shouldn't squeeze. Sure enough, everything on the top shelf was defrosted and half the things on the second shelf as well.

Greg went to look at it and thinks it needs to be defrosted in the back. Hopefully it will start working again. In the meantime, I made tilapia for dinner and am currently baking a couple salmon for :confused3 something in the next few days. There are chicken legs that will be cooked up tomorrow. I managed to either toss things that needed to anyways or by removing anything unnecessary from our upstairs freezer, cram everything else in there.

:sad2: UGH!

Man..I miss a day or two, and there life changing events going on!

Paula-Go you girl!! I'm so excited for your new job and that you had the opportunity to say those two words to your old boss!

Katie-That sucks about the freezer! Hopefully that'll get fixed soon!

MM-Another tear jerker for me too! That is such a wonderful story!!

LL-I can SO see you living in Georgia! Wouldn't it be amazing if most of us locate ourselves close to WDW and in turn close to one another! We would have a blast all the time!!

CP, C, Jen,Julez-Hope you all are doing great!

Blake had an exam tonight. His teacher (who I taught for last semester) decided to be a butthead and made his class (all my friends are in this class, I took it 2 years ago when I transferred, they didn't offer the class in 2008 so Blake had to wait until 2009 to take it) only have an hour to take the exam. As grad students (its a grad/undergrad class) he gave them extra questions with still only an hour to take it, even though they typically give the full period to take a test (2 1/2 hours). The reason for this? He scheduled HIS WIFE to be a "guest speaker" after the exam. Now I can understand having a guest speaker that is from out of state and you have to work around their schedule if they are only available on a particular date, which happens to be the same day that you schedule an exam. But come on, he freaking lives with her, couldn't she have come another time and not have to make the class rush through their exam? Blake said, they're going to have an uprising, especially since they studied their butts off and now have no idea how they did. I'm not even in the class and I'm furious at the teacher, especially since I know him personally from last semester.
Does this make sense to anyone at all?
