Just tried to book our welcome home stay and was bummed to hear that they can’t even try to get me into VGC for our upcoming California trip. I found it even more odd that they also can’t try for VGF, which is my home resort! It’s not that they might not have availability. He told me upfront before I told him any dates that he can’t check on those specific resorts. Can anyone confirm that this is true? I know information can vary from guide to guide, wondering if the same applies to member services.

This is true. All of the units at both have been fully declared and because of that owners have them booked..which leaves very few for DVD to even use for other things.

Usually , inventory for this comes from rooms still owned by DVD or rooms that were pulled when owners traded out, etc. Those tend ti be the larger resorts.

@Sandisw - do you think welcome home will be more open at VDH (since it's still new? Thank you.

It is possible because DVD still owns a lot of inventory that has not yet been declared and therefore have the ability to get new owners a room!

This is a point that seems to get overlooked every time this question comes up. If a member trades into II, and DVC has to pull a room and place it on the exchange, they're not grabbing a room from a resort with only 50 available villas, or one that has the highest cash rates, they are pulling it from the bigger resorts (SSR, AKV, etc.), where the effect isn't felt nearly as much and can be absorbed.

DVC wouldn't offer VGF or VGC years ago even before the BPK conversion to new direct members. I purchased VGF "sold out" and the initial MS CM I spoke with that welcomed me as a member informed me that even though VGF was my home it would not be available on a Welcome Home trip.
