Sunday August 1st
Glen woke up really early this morning in order to watch F1 on TV, he had the sound off so the rest of us could sleep in. It was all over by 10.30am and we were off out to Smugglers crazy golf.
The car park was almost empty when we got there.
Ashley won a free round but it was so hot we didn't make use of it. Sat and had an ice cream and fed the baby alligators ($2.99 for 4 small pieces of processed meat, they must like it but looked like brown hard plasticine
).
Went back home for some lunch and watched baseball on TV for a while as it was so hot outside. In one of my previous reports I mentioned if anything happens its always to Glen, well today's mishap was that he locked himself in the bathroom! He likes his privacy and we know not to go near the bathroom when he's in there but he would still lock the door (and with the dodgy lock that was on it, it was a silly thing to do!) We were just about to call for help when he managed to free it, thing is he's always angry with us when he does something daft! He also lost his hat sometime today, that was upsetting as he bought it last year in WDW. Later in the afternoon we went across the road to the local shops to hire 4 beach bikes. Chap who runs the shop originated from Wales, he'd had holidays out there and went into the shop to hire bikes himself when the owner said he was selling up so he moved out there permanently. Cost was $34 for overnight hire. Ashley only just learned to ride a bike last summer so I was a little nervous about him riding the bike back to the apartment across the road as we only ever ride along cycle tracks at home and with the bikes having no brakes, you have to peddle backwards, it seemed a weird experience even for me and I'm always on my bike.
The plan was to cycle up the beach back to Daiquiri Deck bar for dinner before riding back during the sunset.
Worked fine in theory but the sunset was behind us so had to have frequent stops for a photo and by the time we got back near home the beach was very dark and the boys fell down a couple of holes that children had been digging in the sand during the day.
Further inland there was a terrific thunderstorm, the sky was lighting up with streaks of lightening, it was almost like a firework show, it was still only about 9.30 but we were hot and bothered after our cycling so went and freshened up, grabbed a coffee and sat and watched the boys play on the shuffleboard.
