Saturday 31st July

Up early (7am ish) and went in search of the laundry to put a load on while having breakfast. Luckily had plenty of quarters in my purse, the machine needed 6 and their change machine wasn't working. Took a stroll over the road to the post office to post some cards. We then asked the sat nav to take us to our next destination Le Barge dolphin cruise in Sarasota. Free car parking, bit different to UK!

The boat we were booked to go on.

Went up on the top deck and before we left the marina a manatee was swimming around the boat. Unfortunately the dophins were as elusive as the alligators had been. We did see about 4, the closest we got to one was swimming up and down the dock side very close to the houses. I was hoping we would see them jumping and chasing boats but it wasn't to be. Also unfortunately all my photos were lost of this trip and there were some very nice houses, very photogenic. I'm sure there must have been a few famous folks who live in them as Le Barge also do a trip to point these houses out. The trip cost $78 and we had a drink on board as it was very hot again. Cokes and water which came to $9. After a couple of hours on board it was lunchtime so we called in the nearest place we could find a little cafe called O'Leary's. They served burgers and stuff, so that's what we had but were quite amused by the fries having never seen any like it before.

Headed back home and took some chairs, parasol and inflatables down to the beach for the afternoon. Sat watching a pelican swoop down in front of us catching fish and this time we did see some dolphins in the distance jumping around. Nipped back to the apartment for a snack while watching POTC on TV. They had the 3 films on back to back on one channel, so we saw No. 1 this time, end of no. 2 later followed by the beginning of no. 3!

It was only about 9.30 by the time we got back home so boys went and had a game on the shuffleboard while John and I walked down to the beach.

Siesta Key Beach is famous for it's white sand! It's won awards for "Best Beach" many times, and usually ranks in the top 10 every year. We live 4 miles from the beach and have had days where we found over 100 sand dollars; though I have no idea what I plan to do with them!!

Glad you are enjoying your stay in our favorite area!!

What a lovely picture of you and your boys, Wendy.

I have curly fries in my freezer. Not a fan of chips but love these.

Great sunset again
