Thursday 5th August
Morning visit to Universal Studios today, rode Men in Black, Simpsons did Disaster. Only about 11am but the boys had had enough of the heat and asked if they could return to the hotel (think they wanted an excuse to play on their PSP's but if they are happier doing that then fine with me but personally can't be doing with going on holiday to do the things you can do at home
) anyway John and I waited to see the Blues brothers perform and then rode the Mummy (worse than I remembered from last year) before meeting the boys at Hard Rock Cafe at 1pm.
Returned to the hotel after lunch, the boys went back to the room, John and I carried on walking to the Portofino hotel (heck of a walk on a hot day)
I did have doubts about staying at HRH again, really did want to try the Portofino, but HRH wins hands down for easy access to park and themeing. Portofino seemed a bit too posh for us!
Spent the rest of the afternoon in the pool before heading out to Blue Man Group for the early show. Got the tickets from AttractionTix at a very, very good price, half of what we paid last year. When I asked the boys if there was anything they would like to do this was top of the list to do again. As it turns out we had exactly the same seats behind some seats reserved for disabled guests, we had no one in front last year but this year 2 very, very large guys arrived in front of us and we couldn't see a thing. One got out of his wheelchair into the seat but was huge (tall) and had a baseball cap on the other guy was in a motorised wheelchair which seemed much higher than an ordinary one (IYKWIM), John went off to guest relations to see if we could change seats, not a problem, we were put on the front row behind the poncho section.
While waiting for the show to start we were approached by staff who asked the boys if they wanted to go to the back of the theatre and miss the first 15 minutes of the show and have a chance to go backstage :erm: not likely, they had wanted to see this more than anything and didn't want to miss a minute. It turned out that they would have been the 'latecomers' who the spot light is turned on, certainly not worth missing anything for and they would have been highly embarrassed. After the show we waited to meet the Blue Men, John decided to act the fool and kissed one of them, he thought I was videoing it (I had literally stopped 2 seconds before he kissed him so didn't get it)
Still very light so we wandered over to Citywalk
One of my highlights came here, there was a DJ playing on a stage and about 100 or so people dancing all in unison so I joined them, thoroughly enjoying myself the others just laughed at me. I could have stayed here for the rest of the evening but yet again the boys wanted to go back so I went with them this time and when we got back to the pool we sat and listened to the DJ there before bed.
