No water bottles?

Most of us are hopefully not hanging out at the airport for 8+ hours in the sun and wind, while walking miles.

I drink a lot of water due to digestion problems, allergies, and medication. I only bring one already full reusable water bottle in though and refill it at the drinking fountains or with purchased water. Waiting in a QS line at WDW can be a hassle and take a lot of time. I haven't been to Uni yet, so maybe it's not as big of an issue. Do they have drinking fountains at Uni?

Of course they have drinking fountains at Universal. Bringing an empty bottle and filling it with water either from a fountain or the free water available at QS locations is a great strategy during this temporary period that we can't bring in bottled water.

And my point with the airport was that if we need a drink while there, we succomb and buy it. It's going to be the same way at Universal for the next few weeks.

A few places have noticed it was likely due to a younger woman (not sure if underage or not) who brought in a pair of larger water bottles full of vodka and managed to nearly kill herself overindulging either Saturday or Sunday night, and it may have been a knee jerk reaction to that. Considering I've witnessed people sneak stuff into the Magic Kingdom, and ESPECIALLY food and wine at Epcot. This isn't too surprising, but doing that and also being stupid about drinking it I haven't seen.

At Universal you don't even need to go up to the CS places or bother anyone to get ice cold filtered water, the coke freestyle machines are outside in several places and inside and you just walk up and can get free ice and cold water which are both very filtered. (Same water as they mix with the soda syrups).

I don't mind. I have tendency not to bring too many things into the park. I just purchase water. I have brought juice to the hotel but not into the park. Juice at Universal and Disney is just so expensive.

OMG. I hadn't heard about the girl. That's pretty awful. Thanks for the info about the Coke machines.

We will be looking for freestyle machines this trip. Where are the outdoor machines you mentioned? Thanks!

I can understand the crackdown on certain thing because you simply can't fix stupid and the many get to pay the price for the actions of the few. Considering I am one of the few people that dehydrate very easilly what I do is to buy 1 bottle in the park ( assuming I can't bring my own water in like I usually do) and refill it as needed in the park.

In the case of a medical need like a mother with a special needs baby or even a baby with specific, or regular formula, if security says you can't come in with it, simply ask for their supervisor and gs and make them explain it to you. I think part of the issue stems from a memo that's either not completely understood or misinterpreted. I would just ask them nicely. If they refuse you can step away from the check point and call US gs on the phone and ask them to clarify and rectify the situation.

If this was just during Mardi Gras shouldn't it go away? I'm hoping to hear that they've rescinded this soon.

It was announced that it's only for mardi gras but some people are speculating it will last longer if its good for profits. No one knows.

The "ban" was lifted today, they may still do it for mardi gras concert times (but only around 5PM or so), and they usually do that anyway at night for the citywalk clubs.

That's good! I was going to bring my souvenir butterbeer mug next month and would have refilled that, but this is fairer for those who don't have anything refillable.

And with regards to airports, the TSA allows 3 oz bottles and airlines give out free soft drinks during the flights.
