Just read on FB that Disney won't have trick or treating on Halloween at DTD this year. They said instead they will have "enhanced entertainment" ... whatever that means.
I would be really disappointed if I was planning to take my kids there, but I guess I'm surprised they've still been doing it. If dtd is free, why give away free candy too? Better for disney to try to attract adults who might spend money than families looking for free candy. It would be good though if they added trick or treating at another park or at some of the resorts to give guests options besides mnsshp.
Major bummer! I actually just purchased a costume for my 2 year old today. We will be at Disney for the holiday and will miss trick-or-treating at home. This was the perfect solutions as my babies (2 and 9 months) fall apart after 8pm, making Mickey's not so scary party a very scary prospect because of the cost of 1hr of halloween fun. I understand changes need to be made. It's just annoying that the changes are made when it's somewhat close and it has already been factored into vacation plans. Not the end of the world, and we will still have an amazing time, I'll just have to rethink Halloween for my daughter.
Of course ! Overwhelming guest demand, I'm sure....
meh
You know, that's kind of a royal Disney smack in the face. Especially in this economy.
Obviously this is to try to "force" guests into MNSSHP, and these days there are LOTS of families who can't afford the ever-increasing prices. At least the trick or treating at DTD was a fun and affordable way to still have some fun on Halloween night... And now, that's gone.
What's next ? They'll start charging admission to see everyone's decorations at their campsites in FW ?
That's too bad. Sounds like it was a fun event, but I kind of was wondering how much longer Disney would do this considering it seemed to be drawing such huge crowds.

I don't know that they are trying to force people to MNSSHP though. They only do the trick or treating at DTD on Halloween and that night MNSSHP routinely sells out. Probably they just don't want to give away the free candy they get for free anymore.

That’s not right, I have never heard of Disney not being in festive spirit. Disney can’t do this to the kids and ignore Halloween. Something seems really fishy here.
