i think you could also say that about staying on site, but i haven't seen an argument against that yet. It's a value equation, if you find value in it, you will purchase it, even if you don't like having to make the purchase
i disagree, look at MNSSHP people on here said BOO BASH was here to stay so that Disney could charge more and you would get less, it ended up being flat wrong, and i think a lot of other things will fall back in line gradually. Once employment is back to where it needs to be we'll know for sure, but until then, it's just people crowing that Disney is money grubbing.
That's a very, very tiny percentage of people that visit WDW.
From a strict financial perspective, sure. But booking a deluxe resort over a value/moderate resort makes things logistically easier for guests (among many other additional amenities), hence the value is perceived to be there and accepted.
I've never gone to Universal without the express pass that's because I always stay at one of the deluxe resorts. I would never buy the express passes and stay at a cheaper resort because it would end up costing me more. I do find it funny how people were complaining about 15 dollars and now they want to spend 100 a day. I guess it's not about the money after all.
again, it's just perceived value that we're talking about, and Genie as of today is perceived as a value for a lot of people, more people than Disney even thought
Just out of interest would you spend a couple extra thousand for express passes on top of the other thousands of dollars you already spent?
It is about the money, but there's much more to it than just that.
How many are in your family?
With Universal I never stay at their on property hotels and I do 2 parks in one day. I always buy the one time Express Pass and when I buy it a few months in advance the price is around $90-100. On my most recent trip I bought the one time use pass and found immense value in it. Most rides had a 40-70 minute wait and with only one day for 2 parks, I was able to accomplish everything I wanted to do with plenty of park time left. I'm also only buying an Express Pass for myself and no one else. I went with my friend who bought her own ticket and Express pass.
How many are in your family? Is it just yourself or are you buying 4 or 5 express passes that make a huge difference.
It's just me. I was responsible for my own ticket and pass and so was my friend who went with me. I fully understand that it is easier for me to afford the Express Pass since I was not buying for a spouse or multiple kids.
Well, that explains everything.
As of now, it's just my wife and I, but when children eventually come I would still do it, because I prioritize convenience. If I had to save up for it, I would do that because then it becomes a priority.
When you have kids you may sing a different tune. You have no idea what it costs to clothe and feed them on a daily basis much less what it costs to feed them at WDW. Maybe you are super rich and can do it, but most families can't afford Disney world as it is much less spend and an extra 2-3k on express passes.
But that's my question: are they buying it because they truly think it's a value or are they buying it because they feel like they have to? I would expect the majority of purchasers would far into the latter (would love to get access to Disney's survey data on this though!). If it's a value, wouldn't guest experience/reactions be much better after the fact then they seem to have been?
Gas is a necessity it doesn't matter how you perceive it. I would not put express passes in the same category.
Uh, okay? All I was saying in my initial post was that despite the VIP tours being crazy expensive (just looked it up and it's quoted as being $425-850 an hour plus the tip for your guide), people are still willing to pay that and these tours book up very fast.
