No strollers in lines

Ok... I rarely have any gripes with WDW but having just come back from my first trip with a 14 month old, we noticed a major 'flaw'. Who at Disney decided it would be a good idea to make parents park strollers before waiting in lines? The only line that we were allowed to keep our stroller through the line was Kilamanjaro Safari (sp), where stroller parking was required right before you line up to board. The longest wait we had was at Haunted Mansion. Of course, Camden fell asleep while we were in line and boy was he heavy! Im sure there is a logical explanation for why this is but it sucked lol. I love WDW but I wish someone would have thought this through a little more.

Ok, take your example of the HM. If you had taken your stroller all the way in and left it as you boarded the ride, how would you get your stroller at the end of the ride. By leaving the strollers outside of the rides it makes it much easier to get them when you are done. Also having the strollers in the lines and allowing parents to get them out at the boarding area would certainly slow down the boarding process.

Too late for you now (sorry) but that is why I always used and always advise others with babies/toddlers to bring a sling or snugli to WDW. For the lines and the pavilions where strollers arn't allowed a sling is a lifesaver.

I will say I can see why there is no way the lines could move safely with the number of strollers used at WDW and then imagine the backup at loading!

Since most attractions load and unload at different points where would you park the stroller and how would you get it back?

fwiw - I have never visited a theme park that did allow strollers in line so WDW isn't unique in that.

I understand the logistics of it (lines not moving quickly) but I guess I never thought about it before we went. You would think as much as I am on these boards I would know everything there is to know :rotfl2: Just a heads up for other parents with wiggly worm toddlers like me... take a sling!! It would have been a life saver for us. :goodvibes

That's why I recommend that people with toddlers and infants bring a baby carrier. Our son was 22 months old, and we had long since stopped using the Baby Bjorn at home, but we sure used it at WDW.

I'll be bringing our Baby Bjorn for DS when we go to WDW in April. He'll be 18 mos and he's very squirmy when being held!

ALWAYS take some type of a baby carrier for small children. We just went with our almost 3 year old and still at his age we used it some in lines. It's so much easier to deal with a baby/toddler in lines if you have a sling/baby carrier.

It's not allowed because it is a safety hazard in the event of an emergency evacuation, especially if there were a smoky fire. People trying to evacuate would trip over the strollers or run over others with them.

If you'd like to experience a ride line with your stroller, Disneyland's Nemo is for you. The line is nice and wide, and just as you get to the covered structure, the CMs take the stroller from you and park it. And you exit right into the stroller parking area. Lovely!

For those using Bjorns for such old babies, guys, get an Ergo, a Beco, a simple mei tai. Bjorns are barely OK (and that's overstating my opinion) in my chiropractic opinion for parental spines or baby pelvises when the babies are tiny, but 22 months? Zoiks! You have a painful-spine wish! Get something that spreads baby's weight on your body more, and something that allows baby's weight to be spread onto baby's legs, instead of just dangling from their boy/girl bits and pieces. Ergo, Beco, mei tai!

I was actually wondering how a 22 or 18 month old still fit in a Bjorn. I ended up getting a Beco for my 6 month old because I couldn't get the Bjorn to close around his chubby bottom. :rotfl: And my 2.5 yo absolutely loves the Beco....I think I had it a week before he even let me try the baby in it. ;)

My DS is pretty small for his age. Right now he's almost 16 mos and he's 18.5 lbs. If he continues to gain weight at his current rate, he'll be 19.5 lbs by the time he's 18 mos. I'm hoping to feed him a Mickey bar or two and maybe I can fatten him up a bit. :rotfl: I wish I had that problem. I just have to look at a Mickey bar and I gain 5 lbs.

We seldom use the Baby Bjorn, but I thought it might be helpful to use every once in a while at WDW. If I were going to use a carrier more often, I'd go with one of the other options mentioned.

The hip hammock was a life saver for us! DS was 15mo and over 20lbs! He fell asleep in many lines and with the hip hammock I could just move it around and let him sleep on my lap on the rides! Now you know for next time!!

We will be bringing a Ellaroo hip sling for my 2 year old. I know he gets tired standing in line that I will still end up carrying him. It will also help me keep him from running all over and trying to climb things while standing in line.

At 22 months, our son was just fine in the Bjorn. You hvae to be sure that your are wearing it properly. Most people have back pain because they wear the child too low. At that age, our son's head was higher than my chin. The Bjorn was also good becuase it was easily adjusted when my husband and I took turns.
