No Steak at Chef's De France? Was the review I read true

Anyone been to Chef's in the last week or two? Is it true you can no longer get steak? I may need to adjust my ADR if this is the case.....

I was there last week and I didn't notice any steak on the menu. I would not have ordered it anyway so maybe I missed it though.

I did notice they'd put duck back on.

This is true, no steak on the menu. We had been counting on it, due to one of our DS and his picky eating habits. Low and behold, no steak... Fortunately the rotisserie chicken (with french fries sub'd for the mashies) did the trick for him.

I have to say that dinner at Chefs de France was our most pleasant WDW dining surprise. Wonderful food (especially the onion soup and the "Frenched" pork chop with mushroom glace) fantastic service and none of the "talk down to the ugly Americans" attitude that one might expect from a French staff. We'll definitely return!

I went with my mother and we got the cheese and the and charcuteries/pate appetizers and split them. that would have been enough food by itself.

My entree was the seared tuna with the olive and caper sauce, the sauce was in a dish and you could dip the fish in it. The fish was great. The fried potatoes were not but I did not need them anyway.

Vanilla creme brulee for dessert

Darn that was a lot of food.

Sounds tasty, but I would have gone for the duck. now that you said it's
back on the menu.

We were just at Chefs on Aug 8th and had a wonderful grilled tenderloin of beef. It was one of the best steaks we had on our trip. If you look at the menus on Allears it is the 5th listing under Meat and Poultry.

Chefs de France took steak off the menu during Free Dining last year. Looks like they are doing the same this year. Remember, for some guests Free Dining has started.

We had always enjoyed Chefs de France, but were singularly unimpressed on our last visit and won't go back.

Lasuset year during free dining my Dh got a "steak" at Chefs de FranceI call it a "steak" because it was tough and not my DH's idea of a steak. Give him a T Bone, Ribeye, or Prime Rib and he is happy. I forget what it was called on the menu though.

You're right. There was Steak Frites on the menu, which included a very poor quality piece of meat that was supposed to be something like hanger steak but wasn't.

When does free dining end? I have reservations on Nov. 14 and I'll just cancel if I can't get my tenderloin. I do love the duck, but I don't know if they will even have that during free dining ...I hope it will be over when I'm there.

The most recent allearsnet menu had the tenderloin back on. Hope so, because I would LOVE to have that next week banana: ). Do they have coq au vin? Anyone who has been there lately?

The most recent Chef's menu (8/07) at wdwinfo.com does not include the steak. I will be there Thursday night, so I'll know for sure in a few days. I was planning to have the steak, but, alas, I'll have to force myself to choose something else - FOR FREE

It might not be on there now, but last year during free dining I had the filet.

Everyone that seems distraught - do you actually decide what you are going to order months before you travel? I wish I was that gifted to know what I'll be hungry for 4 months from tonight.

It's people not happy with Disney dumbing down the menus. Same thing with Spoodles. Last year during free dining I had a steak. Later it was gone never to return ???? Just too many cuts IMO.

I am VERY picky. I have to make sure they serve something I will eat before I make the ADR

It is now one of my favs. I was hoping to go back at the end of September/beg. of October and have the filet again. When does free dining end??? Will the filet return to the menu???

It was on the free menu last year. I was told it won't return and has nothing to do with the current free dining

Not sure what you mean by "dumbing down", menu's do change. PM me and I'll explain my point of view.

We had dinner at Le Chefs on Aug. 9. I asked our waiter about the tenderloin and she told us that day was the first day for a new menu and they had taken the tenderloin off.
