No See 'Ems?? Tell me more...

about these things. I was telling my friend we're going to go to Sanibel/Fort Myers area for a few days before our cruise and she said just watch out for the no see ems . I mean of course you can't see them, but I just mean how can I prevent from anyone getting them and ruining a few days of vacation because of them?? She said there is a "florida swamp spray" stuff you can buy. Is this some thing that I need to WORRY about??

They are pesking irritating little bugs that you really can't see but they bite you and drive you nuts! I encountered quite a few when I went to Vero Beach. I had never heard of them before, until this trip. I used my Avon skin so soft wipes and that seemed to help keep them at bay.

But, they only bit me. Completely ignored DS & DH. Go figure. But, I got so many bites, I was miserable & itchy for days. On the bright side, they only seem to be around at dusk, so - stay inside at dusk (we were at the pool) or be sure to use some kind of repellant.

After I got bitten the first night, I just avoided being outdoors at dusk and had no problem.

Sanibel/Ft. Myers/Captiva are beautiful.

The worst thing about these little bugs are they are NO FEEL EMS too ............until later that night and then the itching will destroy your sleep!

I used to get eaten up at the beach in the mornings or evenings. There are some sun screen products with bug stuff in them - that's what I would use.

These Skin so soft wipes.... does Avon still sell them, I looked on theire website and could not find them..
They sound just like what I've been looking for...
I live down in South FL and the no see ums are out most every night here.... they eat me alive and my DH doesn't have a problem....

I would definitely be prepared for those pesky little bugs - they drove my DH crazy but they did seem to ignore me. And the itching can last for days. Next time, some kind of bug repellant will be in the suitcase.

Avon does sell the wipes. I'm suprised they aren't online but they are in the order books. You may need to contact a Avon Sales Rep. We camp frequently so use the Skin So Soft products. They work well. I usually purchase the SSS insect repellent/sun screen. Avon usually runs a good sale on them every March/April
