We had a really bad storm last night, and all schools in our area are closed today because of power outages and road closures due to downed trees. Our last day of school gets bumped a day later now:sad2:

I am in western Ma. I thought it was hail hitting our windows last night, but it wasn't-it was tree branches:eek:

Oh man! We are getting out late this year as it is. we usually get out in the 2nd week of June, this year, the scheduled last day was the 18th, with no snow days. We had one snow day, so now we have to go on Monday the 21st!

The killer? The snow day we had was on a half day! They have to make up a half day of school. The 18th was originally scheduled as a half day because it was the last day of school. That will now be a full day, and Monday is a half day.

Do you mind telling me where you are or what school district you work for? I live in Western MA (North Adams and work in Pittsfield) and although we had a bad storm for alittle while I didn't see any tree branches down or know of any power outages even.

Our schools are open but that was a seriously crazy storm last night here in Plymouth. We rarely lose power and it was out for hours

We have branches down all over our yard in Western MA as well. My husband is working from home today because many of the places in the town he works in have no power and roads closed and there is also no school.

That really stinks. We had pop up storms yesterday but nothing severe.

My dd's last day is TODAY!!!:cool1:

Bad storm! Found a mole in our pool (still alive). I let him go. We have a gritty sand all over the inside of our house from the wind. Had to mop and wipe down all counters. Wow.

I am in Hampshire County. Franklin county got hit hard as well.

we dont start until the wed after labor day which is the 8th of sept but the town near us starts the 2nd

Same for us! I work at the local elementary school and it was cancelled today - too many impassable roads between downed trees and power lines. High school still had school, but if kids couldn't make it there and parents called, they got an excused absence. Someone vandalized all school buses during the night (slashed tires) so no transportation available. Also, someone broke off paperclips in all the locks on the high school doors. It's been a bizarre day in our small town.

Our power went out during the storm (11:45 PM) last night and just came back 1 hour ago. I dread looking in my freezers. I stocked up on ice cream and frozen treats because DS17 is having his wisdom teeth removed tomorrow. It can't be pretty.....

At my school, kids go until June 21, teachers until June 22. We leave for a trip to Hawaii on June 25 (I've been planning this for 2 years now!) - I do NOT want to be in school until the 23rd - UGH!
