No Savannah Rooms at AKL Sept 2007?

Hi there everybody,

We are trying to book up a Savannah Room at the AKL between 13th and 21st September next year. However according to the UK website and also after speaking to them on the phone there seems to be no Savannah view rooms available during that period.

In order to make sure that we qualified for the free DDP we booked some Standard rooms, just to make sure our booking was made in time. There were also no pool view rooms available either.

However I find it very hard to believe that these rooms have sold out at the AKL. I know that there is the DDP offer during that time, but surely that wouldn't make the hotel that booked up would it? It was my understanding that Savannah rooms account for more than 75% of the rooms at AKL.

Does anybody know why this may be (other than it just being sold out). Do Disney release rooms in phases? Or may it be the case that the UK WDTC has sold out it's allocation, but there are still rooms available at the resort?

My plan is to basically keep calling them periodically in the hope that we can change the reservation from a Standard to a Savannah view room when some become available.

Any thoughts or comments would be greatly appreciated and will help ease my mind and worry.

That does seem strange! Was it that the DDP was available only with the standard rooms?
I`m always reading of people getting free upgrades at AKL to a savannah room - so I would be surprised if you couldn`t upgrade and pay for it nearer the time.
Good luck though I`m fairly certain you`ll get the view you want.

Only a small level of the overall inventory is released to the UK site. It may be worth looking on the disney.com site or calling US CRO, if they have the roms disney UK may be able to make the changes if you push them to make the relevent calls.

With the free dining more people may have decided to upgade with the money they are saving. Though I doubt that they have completely sold out, probably just the Disney UK allocation.

As others have said it seems unbelieveable that AKL has sold out all savannah rooms at this point! I would also guess Disney UK have run out of their allocation as there are rooms available on Disney.com for your dates

I would not expect great things from Disney UK to be able to get extra allocation. My experience with them is that their clout is pretty limited, they cannot even cross refer bookings or make requests like connecting rooms.

However, you should be able to pay front desk to upgrade on check in.

Just to answer an above question you can book Savannah room and qualify for DDP - we are going to AKL in Aug 07, booked savannah room and got free DDP. This was with Thomas Cook Signatures (but price matched against Virgin so available from both)

Thanks for your replies everybody. There's quite a few people going in our party needing a total of 5 rooms and they all booked at different times during October and November. Everybody was able to book a Savannah room with the free DDP. However we were not able to book the last two rooms of our group into Savannah rooms and therefore booked standard rooms instead to make sure we got the free DDP.

I guess we will just hand on in there and keep pestering them over the phone every now and then to see if any new rooms become available.

As the previous poster has said, if all else fails I'm sure we'll be able to upgrade on check-in and pay the difference.

It could be that tour operators have an allocation blocked off?
