No Rivers of Lights but Jungle Book Show!

Watch the video of the guy in charge of all this addressing everyone after RoL preview.

He very clearly said "...beginning on Memorial Day...."

Par for the course.
Technically ON Memorial Day and starting Memorial Day Weekend are both correct but just different enough to not be clear so yeah ... par for the course.

The Tree of Light and what they were able to preview for ROL look amazing though. I mean, what you would expect from Disney amazing!!! I fully believe the delay is because of the reported technical problems with the barges unable to dependably navigate the show multiple times a night. The delay sucks and we won't be able to partake in any After Dark fun at AK when we're down but once it is all up and running, I think it will be top notch.

I also first thought because of the headline that they were Memorial Day weekend events. Too bad I'm not going until December because I would love to see these events. Wondering how "limited" they will be though? Doesn't sound like ROL is happening anytime soon IF they are substituting it with these shows. I would think though that these events would have been pre-planned anyway but I could be wrong. I have been before!

Sadly the double talk will affect many traveling then hoping to catch the show. I just don't think we can believe anything they say anymore .............. their standard of keeping secrets is starting to bite them in the butt as folks are tired of this. Is it starting the weekend (is that Friday or Saturday?) or Memorial Day? Is everything but Jungle on the weekend and the show on day? Just spit it out instead of talking out both sides of your mouth.

Be truthful about RoL!! Last night they acted like no big this is how we are planning it, trying to blow over they are just making it better ....... better vs working are two different things. It seems like they've gone from keeping things secret until READY to purposely trying to fool guests. Grrrrrrr ...... I'm not even going (well I'm going down and staying at DS but doing the dark sides) until fall and I am aggravated with all this smoke blowing. I can't imagine trying to plan a trip now ...

And AK is only part of their issues.

So is the Jungle Book Show on Discovery River going to be only at night? Have multiple shows? Have some aspects of ROL into it? Where will the characters be, it's water?

Just making sure I am reading this right- Tiffins, ToL, Harambe party, pretty much everything but RoL will open over Memorial Day?

Hmmm... I wonder if the problem with the RoL show wasn't technical but that it wasn't entertaining. (Or maybe they pulled it thinking Jungle Book would be a better draw)

It'll be interesting to see if they use the automated/drone floats in the Jungle Book production.

I am excited for all the evening attractions at AK. Even though I'm disappointed that ROL won't be ready by the time we're there in early June, at least we can look forward to this Jungle Book show! :)

There will be water .............. I would assume using the RoL theater as no where else is really feasible.

Wonder when they will be updating the park hours? Trip in July still shows AK park hours until 5 and no Tiffin's available...

Someone asked on Disney Blog to clarify the start date for the Jungle Book Show ... since clarity hasn't been their forte.
Thanks Jenny for the answer, wait, no, no answer. They are consistent.

We hope to have a date to share soon.

Yes, and I wonder whether this Jungle Book show is just RoL with footage of Jungle Book instead of the generic scenes of animals.

And this is why I am leaving my AK day on Tuesday the 24th. I refuse to redo my plans again for a not sure thing. We are going to Epcot on Saturday the 28th and with all the new stuff there not opening til June, maybe it won't be that bad crowded for the holiday weekend!

So is this a dumbed down version of RoL with some Jungle Book mixed in to make it seem like they did something?

Disney messes up. Pushes back release date. Tries to put something together short-term to use the new facilities and tie in to current film release. People still complain.

AK hours extended starting May 27-July 2 til 11pm. Showing up in MDE. Now I'm wondering if they load up the nighttime FP for tonight at midnight.

There is no chance to make lemonade with these lemons. That ship has sailed (or sunk in this case).

I would love to see the Jungle Book show! But, alas, I won't be back to Disney until late next year. Boo to me!

I find it really offensive that Disney works people up into a lather with innuendo, half-truths, revoked commitments and when all else fails, outright lies. Their PR team must be ready to bail... no doubt just steps behind their IT group. Disney management needs to pull it together and corp comms needs to step up, do their job and take back their brand.

NONE of this would be so bad if they didn't set the whole guest experience up to have to book their park days, FPs and dining up months in advance. For a company known for their commitment to exceptional service... and one which blows sunshine on almost every Disney Parks Blog about how awesome everything they do is and all in the name of delivering that better experience... THEY SUCK.

Vent over. Back to your regular programming.

I have a question about the shows. Last time I was in Disney (I was a kid, so let's just not give a number here), but I remember us sitting in some of the shows and videotaping them. Yes, really old camera that records to VHS. Let's all take a moment to laugh about that. Anyway, my question is, have the shows now strapped down on that? Can you still record and photograph during shows? Back in the VHS days, there was little risk of any of this showing up online, but now anyone and their grandmother can record something on their phone and post it online. So, I guess the question is two-fold...1. Can I record and take pictures? 2. Are there legal restrictions to posting any of this online? I remember watching the videos over again that my parents took (grainy and bad quality) and it was a nice reminder. In order to create similar reminders for my kids, about two years ago I set up a family blog to share photos and the ins and outs of our family life with family overseas and have it all documented for us as well and our kids. I often post photos and videos from our vacations, but will I run into legal problems if I post things from Disney? I assume anything in the park is fine, but when it comes to the shows, are there legal issues there?
