I'm here.

I recall all of the warnings before your departure day. I didn't know you were from MO. I lived in Springfield between 1988-1991. I have several family members in the Waynesville area and several had friends in Devils Elbow loose there homes to flooding, literally floating down the river. Sad spring for them my heart goes out.
YAY
We stayed at AK our last 2 times.....LOVE it.
How could you wait, first thing I did was run out to the balcony.
I know right

miss them babies.
Fell hard very hard.
Yep, born and raised in southern MO, moved out of state 5 years ago. I do not miss it, LOL!! This weekend we drove up to the northern part of the state for my cousin's graduation, and many of the fields were still very wet and all of the rivers/ponds/etc were still up so high. It's crazy. I feel so bad for everyone who had to deal with it, it's so destructive!
I loved AKL so much, I understand why people go back - it's how I feel about Wilderness Lodge!!
I'd like a bunch of zebra domes right now...it's been a LONG day!
I have to laugh about your Nemo experience because we saw the show once-ONCE. Back in 2011. The boys don't even remember it but Steve and I sure do. It felt incredibly long and as you said, the puppetry is great and it's so colorful but the singing..... Oy. So maybe not just a bad performance you caught? Or maybe the 3 onus have very sensitive ears??
I love your first solo day!!
I knew I couldn't have been the only person to have a bad Nemo experience! I really felt like something had to have been wrong - how could it look so pretty and sound so bad??
I think the three of us must just have a very good ear for music

or the z team was on the field, one or the other, LOL!
Our daughter lives in the St. Louis area, just north of some of the worst flooding and she had a lot of closed roads to deal with. I would have been scared about making it to Florida, too. The flooding was terrible.
It sounds like you didn't get a room text.
I love your room at AKL, espcially the wallpaper. I would love to be able to watch the animals from the balcony.
We have friends and family in the St. Louis area as well, it was a mess up there!! I'm glad your daughter was north of the worst part. One of my friends' husbands is a police captain in south county and she was terrified for him out and working during it all. I would have been too.
I did not get a room text...in fact, I never have on any of my trips since it became a thing. I learned the trick about checking the app here on the Dis. The bad thing was, the person at the desk was just not very helpful. When I went back later, I picked up a map and things worked out...of course, by that point I'd figured out where my room was and didn't need it
Having the animal view was the BEST!!
We were 2550! And it was a little maze like to get there.
Yikes!
Oh, I can imagine it was like a maze! That would be on the next section from my room, so that's pretty far. Who designs these Disney hotels to have such crazy hallways, anyway??
Womp womp
I looooooooove the ToL!! It's so beautiful and photogenic!
Saaaamsies. I used to not like DAK much but I have grown to love it more and more the older I get. Aesthetically I think it's the MOST beautiful of all the parks!
I love Giraffes, they are the cutest

They got pretty close on our safari too!
Yaaass! I love Expedition Everest! Jacob loved every ride in WDW EXCEPT this one. I was so sad because I love it! He didn't like the backwards part...it IS pretty intense. Oh well, can't win them all I guess
Yeah I am with you on this. Both times I have tried to watch it, I dozed off. I wanted to love it but I was just very underwhelmed. Maybe I am just going at the wrong times?

I know so many people who love it but I just...didn't. I think we are in the minority though!
Hahahahaha!! That gif cracked me up!
The baby deer was soooo cute, but not at all what I thought people were getting so excited about. It wasn't up and moving or even where people could see it well, so I have no idea why they were all crowded around like it was wearing a top hat and doing a jig.
I was really lamenting the forgetting of my camera while in AK. I could take pictures of ALL THE THINGS all day long. So, so beautiful.
X is kind of on the fence about Everest. He likes it, but doesn't love it. He's just not much of a roller coaster guy (although he is getting better about it). We have a deal that he doesn't have to ride it every time, but he DOES have to do it every OTHER time. It works out pretty good. Maybe Jacob will like it better in a couple years! It's one of my top 5 favorite rides, so I want to ride it as often as possible.
I'm relieved to hear you didn't love Nemo either! I almost feel guilty that I didn't care for it since so many seem to love it.
Wow. A solo trip. My DW would never let me go alone, which I guess is a good thing. LOL Looks like you are in for a fun trip
My husband was a little sad to be missing out, but he knew I needed some time to recharge. Disney was perfect for a solo trip because it's not isolating - I don't know if I'd have had as good of a time anywhere else by myself. It ended up being really fun!
I'm here!
I've had a long semester of school and i'm debating on taking a solo trip! Interested to hear your stories and take on things!
Hi!!
I'm so excited to share!! I am definitely an advocate for solo trips now, and Disney was the PERFECT place for my first ever trip anywhere alone.
