I am planning on staying at the Saratoga Spring Resort and since one of the perks is the free pickup/delivery at the airport, I wasn't going to get a rental car. But I would like to get to a grocery store (so I don't have to pack a week's worth of snacks, etc).
On another posting for someone trying to go to Seaworld, they mentioned Lynx #50. Does that go anywhere near a Supermarket?
I don't mind walking a bit.

This is my first time going to Walt Disney to stay. I normally just do a day trip there.

Just wondering....why do you get free transportation to Saratoga Springs from the airport? Never heard of this perk!

Unless I have it wrong, as long as you are staying at a Disney resort, you get the Magical Express Service.

You have it right!

It has to be a Disney-operated resort at WDW. So Disney's Magical Express doesn't serve the Swan & Dolphin, Shades of Green, or Hotel Plaza hotels -- and it doesn't serve Disney's Vero Beach or Disney's Hilton Head Island resorts.

Your name has to be on the room reservation. It doesn't matter whether you're staying at a deluxe or a value or anything in between (including DVC resorts and Fort Wilderness). It doesn't matter if you're staying one night or dozens of nights. It doesn't matter if you're paying full price or a discounted price. It doesn't matter if you're on a package or a room-only reservation.

You can use Disney's Magical Express roundtrip or one way.

You must use Orlando International Airport (sorry, Orlando-Sanford Airport passengers). It works with any airline. (There's a separate but related service called Resort Airline Check-in that provides remote skycap services on your departure day, but only for certain airlines).

Disney's Magical Express is free! It not only provides free, frequent, reliable, comfortable transportation, but also free luggage transfers from your home airport to you resort room!

You must make advance reservations.

While that bus might stop at a supermarket eventually, it might not. No Guests of whom we're aware have ever used it for that purpose. Lynx is the public bus system in the Orlando area; you could call them for advice.

Or you could use a grocery delivery service - gardengrocer.com, wegoshop.com, goodings.com.

Or you could shop at the Saratoga Springs store. As a DVC property, they'd tend to have a larger selection of "real" food than the regular resorts.

Or you could take the bus or boat to Downtown Disney and walk to: (a) the Hess Station across the street, or (b) the Goodings at the opposite end of Hotel Plaza Boulevard.

The Publix grocery store used by most transportation companies is located about 2 blocks from the Sea World park. It is the closest grocery store to the park. There are two other grocery stores close to Disney, but probably a little more expensive. You can get a taxi for about $10.00 to get to them. A lot depends on the resort you stay at in WDW to which grocery store may be convenient for closer to you. There is also a Walmart that is within a $10.00 to $15.00 taxi price.

The Lynx bus #36 takes you up and down the 192. There are grocery stores along there. Take it to the Walmart Supercenter. It has a big grocery store in it. Tell the driver and he will help! Super Targets is around there with groceries too.

OOPS! I didn't realize you were talking about ME...it didn't sound that way in the original post. Since you are staying at a DVC resort, you can call the resort and ask for a grocery order form. You can order your groceries ahead of time and they will be waiting for you in your room! I think the form might be on-line but you might have to be a DVC member to get it. You might want to post the question over on the DVC planning board. They know everything! I am a DVC member and while I know of this service, I have never used it. Good luck!:goodvibes Kathy

I think it's more convenient to just order grocery delivery than to take public transportation and drag a bunch of groceries on the bus and then walk with heavy groceries to your room at the resort. While I enjoy the walking at SSR, I don't think I'd enjoy it much loaded down w/bags of groceries.. Have heard good things about Garden Grocer and Wegoshop. HTH
