No Pirates of the Caribbean 5 ?

Not sure if this was posted anywhere else but this is disappointing.

Disney already has a full slate in summer 2015 with Avengers 2, Star Wars 7, And Man and a Pixar animated film.

Other studios bring the likes of Batman & Superman, Terminator and Jurassic Park films into the mix. Even good films can get squeezed when there's just too much competition for the public's dollars. Mediocre films get annihilated.

I don't know what this says about relations with Bruckheimer / Depp, but switching POTC to another year when Disney doesn't have it's two top franchises in play (Star Wars, Avengers) sounds wise to me.

I can't see Disney giving up on POTC unless they are unable to meet Depp's payday. But he isn't exactly at the top of his game right now. Disney isn't the only studio reluctant to pay Depp the dollars he was earning 5 years ago.

Perhaps this is motivations to find the right story/script/actors as well

As much as depp has made the franchise... After a couple of really bad stories... Perhaps every movie doesn't have to be a showpiece for him and a $75 million dollar paycheck.

Maybe they can have some good other characters and a good
Plot like the first movie... All the money was because of that movie

i have totally enjoyed all of the pirates movies, altho i still think the first was the best.

i can not imagine a potc without johnny as jack sparrow. i do think he earned the salary in that movie. but he has not been as great in other movies. i guess that labels him as that character, somewhat.

the thought of another potc is a great anticipation. i will miss it if there are no more.

I certainly think they could make another good POTC movie. I also think it will be successful. I think Disney has learned that the worldwide take is as important (sometimes more important) than the domestic take. POTC4 was just as big if not bigger than the 3 that preceded it when you consider the nonUSA business.

Exactly. Sounds like they are pushing it back to Memorial Day 2016.

There will definitely be a 5th movie. Even a crappy Pirates movie seems to make at least 100-200 mil profit.
