No One Mourns The Wicked.... well... Except Us (Honoring Villains Thread)

It is, I think that's why so many people think it's Disney. But it wasn't, it's a Bluth movie. In fact, I'm fairly certain Bluth made it specifically to get money from Disney fans-- it came out right in the middle of the Renaissance, after all. So he copied the successful Disney formula and people STILL think it's Disney.

Wow that kinda makes me mad. Someone would try to buy out Disney. While it does prove, Disney is far superior when it comes to animated films, still it doesn't please me at all. Oh I almost have 500 posts, eeeeeeeeepppppp

Yeah, just because it worked for Disney doesn't mean everyone can use it! It wasn't his first time doing that, either- Thumbelina has a redhead voiced by Jodi Benson, a classic fairytale, similar animation, a romance that occurs in like three seconds because the guy took the girl flying... So Bluth kind of liked stealing Disney's ideas XP

A lot of people get Bluth and Disney mixed up. I thought Balto was Disney when I was little.

He did? Why didn't he when Anastasia and Balto came out?
There was some drama in the animation department around Fox and the Hound/Great Mouse Detective time, and a lot of their workers quit. Some of them got jobs elsewhere in entertainment- Don Bluth, Tim Burton, etc. There's details in the documentary Waking Sleeping Beauty, but I can't remember it all at the moment.

Oh wow! But didn't Tim Burton come back to Disney around the time of the Renaissance? Because didn't The Nightmare Before Christmas came out years after Fox and the Hound and Great Mouse Detective. I really should see Waking Sleeping Beauty. One of the bloggers on AllEars.net was raving about it and it sounded interesting.

Yeah, things got patched up with him, they just didn't let him animate cute fluffy animals anymore  Don Bluth stayed gone, though. Definitely see Waking Sleeping Beauty, it's REALLY interesting!

I wonder where I can buy it. Or is it something you can only buy online?

Umm... I'm not sure, my college showed it at our movie theatre, so that's where I saw it. You could try the site I told you about this morning, though :)

I want to see Waking Sleeping Beauty, too. I heard an interview with one of the filmmakers on the (now sadly defunct- WHY?!?!) All About The Mouse podcast.

I'm going to have to finish it in the morning, since its late and I'd rather not get more sick.

Chernabog, Malificent, Hades and Oogie Boogie are all my personal favorites!! :rotfl:

Oogie Boogie legitimately scares me and I'm 18... :scared1:

I'd have to say my favs are Lady Tremaine, Hades, Cruella, Dr. Facilier, and Queen Narissa - something about all of their skinny (boney?) bodies make them excessively villian-y to me.

Mother Gothel, Ratigan, and Scar top my list. I am really good at doing Ratigan's voice, Mother Gothel is so pretty she almost doesn't seem like a villain, which makes it ten times creepier when she's horrible, and Scar is just funny; period.

And Waking Sleeping Beauty was amazing! I almost cried when Howard Ashman died. :( It was so good!

I LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT DISNEY.
